Reupholstering Cobalt 255 – Color Combination Advice?

Post by AirStage »

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a Cobalt 255 and I'm very happy with the boat overall. However, the upholstery on the seats and other areas is in pretty bad shape. I'm currently considering having everything reupholstered.

I plan to keep the white sections as they are, but I'm debating whether to replace the grey parts with a dark blue color that matches the hull. Has anyone here done a similar (or other recommended) color combination? It’s hard to visualize the final result, and once it’s done, there’s no going back 😅

I’m also planning to install Seadeck flooring. I was initially thinking of going with a grey tone, but now I'm reconsidering depending on the rest of the color scheme. I found a photo online (not my boat) that shows a setup I really like — I’ve attached it below as a reference.

I've also included a few photos of my current interior to give you a better idea of the condition and layout.
Any tips, experiences, or photos would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

One thing to consider is that the seat color, and floor color should coordinate with the dash color... unless you plan on changing the tan/brown color of the dash as well. For example, I don't know that a light colored grey would look good on the seats or floor, because the dash is brown. Although I do think a dark blue would look very good, it may get really hot. I know they make a "cooler touch" vinyl now, but they would still get hot if a dark color IMO. What may look good though would be maybe a blue stitching on the seats, or a smaller blue section or piping on the seats to match the boat. You could do the same thing on the flooring, if the seadeck is what you're going for.

I think blue as an accent color could look really sharp, but I echo Nauti's concern that it'll get noticeably hotter than light gray. If I were going the navy blue route, I think I'd also look at where it could be integrated into the side trim, dash, etc. to add some thematic consistency.

Please let us know what you decide, and post photos once it's done!

Thanks for the feedback! The dark blue colors are really just meant as accents, so hopefully the heat won’t be too much of an issue. I’ve ordered some samples of both upholstery and seadeck materials to get a better idea of how everything will look.

I also may want to keep things as original as possible, so that’s something I’m trying to stick to in my choices. Once I’ve made a final decision and the work is done, I’ll definitely share some photos!
