New Memeber of The Family

Post by NautiGirl »

Katie and I wanted to introduce a new member of the family. Before anyone freaks out I did not slip one past the goalie. We did however part ways with our 2007 222. She was a great boat. 6.2 Merc, Captains Call, we installed Seadek, new Stereo, Flag Pole. A lot of blood - literally my blood - sweat and tears in that boat.

We had not really been shopping, but a few weeks ago Katie found a listing for a R5 in Nashville - which isn't far from us. It ticked a lot of boxes, 8.2 Big Block, Arch, Trim Tabs, Updated Interior. Basically everything other than captains call.

I gave Katie an ultimatum, sell our boat and we could talk seriously about brining the R5 home. Lesson learned, never give Katie a challenge. We took the 222 out for a prospective buyer Sunday morning, he purchased it as we pulled back into the Marina after a 15min ride. By Sunday afternoon I was making a handshake deal on our new 2017 R5.

This will be the third Cobalt in the Family.

97 190 - Best Boat Cobalt ever Made confirmed by Rick at the factory tour.
2017 222
and now a 2017 R5.

No name yet, against my better judgement I am going to say suggestions welcome.

Also John BBP has approved a name change. Can you please update our account to NautiBigBlockPower?

It took a lot of convincing, a few Irish Car Bombs and a can or two of Eazy Cheese, but he has approved our entry into his secret Black Big Block Boat Society.

Looks like I can actually do this, but you'd have to type in BigBlockPower as part of your name every time you log in

I think the R5 from that era is a fantastic value compared to anything else on the market for a family boat. Someday I may do the same thing, except I'd be moving up closer to four feet.

The 222 is super sharp looking in Red, but the new R5 looks sweet as well.

How do I get details on this 4B's Society? Mine is a 220 with a yellow boot and an 8.1 GXi.

Fine fine, no on the name change I get it.

I am happy we ended up /w an R series, and really the last year Cobalt was Cobalt. No one likes Malibu. Cant wait to get out and boat. Wait did I just say that out loud?

As a new member of the society I dont think I am allowed to invite others. Big Block Power should be able to extend an invite. The yellow Boat could be a sticking point but you can try to talk him into it.
