New to Cobalt

Hello, John here. We live on a 5000 acre lake in Central Arkansas, mostly tri-toons and Cobalts. Presently own a 22 foot Bennington, but have been thinking about a Cobalt and trying to get up to speed on models.

I have looked at a new R4, but want to get up to speed on other options between 22 and 25 feet, including the used market, before we make a decision. One thread compared the CS line to a Ferrari and the R series to an SUV. I own a 911, so the CS is intriguing.

Welcome any comments about options available from 2017-18 forward on pros, cons and trade-offs between the CS and R lines, under $90,000. Thanks!

By the sounds of it, if you're going from a Bennington, you'll want to go with the R line, or if you can find a nice used one, Something in the likes of a 242 or 262. Those bigger boats are going to ride a lot smoother than the CS series, and be closer in ride quality to your current Bennington. Plus, with the R models, or the 242/262, you still can get some fantastic engine options, and still be able to do the skiing/tubing/wake boarding/ or even surfing that you can do from the CS line.
Then again, I'm biased, as we own a 242. I did though go from a 26' pontoon, to a 19' ski boat, then to this 242. The 242 has been the best of our 3 boats BY FAR.

If I HAD to go to an R from our CS it def wouldnt be a 3 or 4... Really the only way I would see our CS leaving is for a surf boat. With the quality dive of Malibu ownership I HIGHLY doubt it would even be a Cobalt.... And if our our dealer Parks Marina in Okoboji IA had any hand in it, it would be a HARD NO.
As far as ride differnce goes I dont think people here would agree with my thoughts

5000 acre lake? Which lake? If there are not a lot of surf boats there, I would suggest any Cobalt. If there are as many as we have at Greers Ferry and you're not into surfing, I'd try the used R3 or R5. You're probably going to love whatever you choose.

First time we left Mississippi and went to Hot Springs and Lake Hamilton, my daughter, maybe 12 at the time, got into the water and started
yelling, " Daddy, Daddy!" I ran to check and asked what's wrong. She said, "I can see my feet." Can't do that at our local lakes of Sardis and Enid.

After two trips to Lake Hamilton in the busy summer, I'd suggest the R series definitely.
