Modification?

Post by Crazee Frazees »

So my friend had a new Ski Nautique with a little door flap on the side wall for the trash can, and it got me thinking. I hate that I have to ask someone to get up every time I want to throw something away. Has anyone done something like this? If so, what did you do and what did you use? Does anyone have other ideas of where to hide the trash can so I don't have to have someone move every time?

Thanks!

Not a bad option V. Nice find. I think I would throw a plastic trash bag liner into that product which could be pulled out at the end of the day and thrown out in order to avoid leaks, smells, and to keep it on the clean side.

I am so glad to see this and look forward to the responses. I love the little door flap on the natique and it holds a fair amount compared to the tiny trash cans on the R series. I just ordered the sea sucker trash bag holder and hope I can find a place to put it on my boat. It is a HD suction cup with a place to put in a kitchen trash bag and clip it in place.

Where do you plan on putting the sea sucker? I am hoping it will fit on backside of head door on R7

What about the fender storage right in front of the cockpit? I put my fenders under one of the benches, and this seems like a logical place that could hold a lot of garbage.

The only problem I see with the fender for is it can get flippedd all the way open and it smacks the windshield hard. 1 time could be a bad day.

What size did you get? Still trying to wrap my head around spending $130 or $90 for essentially a HD suction cup.

I ordered the small and the medium as I had some rewards points to use. My boat has been in the shop for some minor warranty repairs so I haven't had a chance the try them or find a position yet. They are really HD and stick really good. I think the bigger one with extra clips would hold the bag better but I am leaning towards the smaller one for a smaller footprint. When I get my boat back I will take some pictures in some different locations and let you know what I find.

Thanks - look forward to seeing those pics. I would think, like how @higginspa1371 suggested, inside part of the head compartment door would be a logical and inconspicuous spot to put it. I was entertaining the thought of putting some 3M hooks there and hanging one of those boat trash bags there with a kitchen trash bag as a liner to keep liquids contained.

Finally following up on my post from 2 years ago. Over this winter, we updated our trashcan from the miniature bathroom size trashcan on the R8 to a fullsize 13 gallon trash can which is more appropriate for a dayling boating trip. I think it turned out nice and it doesn't take up any more room than the original trashcan.

Someone needs to advise Cobalt to install a normal size trashcan for these beautiful boats. :D

Well, I had to move to my computer to load the silly picture. It just would not load from my phone. Not a sexy pic, but certainly holds more than 2 water bottles and an empty bag of chips like the old one. I added a pic of the trashcan from Amazon to show overall size. It's pretty deep.
