I have the platinum sound on my R6 (the Roswell speakers) and my friends have the premium sound on their R5 (JL's). the difference in sound is NIGHT AND DAY and the Roswells blow the JL's out of the water, IMHO. The biggest thing is that you will move up from a 6.5" speaker on the JL's with the premium to 8" speakers all around with the platinum. More speaker area, pushes more air. The platinum comes with a 12" and a 10" sub that are powered by a 1000 watt amp (4 amps in total if you get the tower speakers btw). I think it's like 3500 watts in total for all amps combined. It slaps. It's loud and clear the whole way up the dial, so definitely not distorted and really well tuned from the factory. It sounds as good as anything I've heard at an amphitheater in an outdoor concert.

Is it worth the almost $11k upgrade, for me it definitely was.

If they only spelled that out on the website people wouldn't be asking these questions. That is a huge difference in systems and I think justified in the price difference...

I like your night and day reference. $11k was more than 10% of our boat cost. Plus we don't boat at night.

On the newer, bigger boats, it's 5% at best. Like I said, the biggest difference is in the 6.5" speakers jumping up to the 8" speakers. If you price out the same components on Roswell's web site (as if you were building a new system), just speakers and amps come out to around 12,000 and that's not including wiring, installation and tuning.

We bought the Platinum system in our 2021 R8 Surf and I couldn't be happier with that option! The clarity and depth of sound is spectacular at all volume levels and it will blow your mind if you like it loud. The Apollo 670 vs 770 isn't that much different outside of the display being larger (I was bothered by this before I actually used the boat). What I came to realize is that I have one of the Garmin's displaying music and I control everything there. Much better UI than any head unit will be able to provide.

I have built/purchased a couple stereos on previous boats with top end JL Audio and they don't compare to the quality of the Roswell IMO

The Cobalt rep told me they are moving away from Roswell to what BMW uses for their top end sound system (Harmon Kardon possibly, but not positive).

Hope this is helpful
The difference between the 670 and 770 is more than screen size. 4 zone control vs 3. Built in wifi vs non. Some more technical specs that I can't remember.

BMW currently uses Bowers and Wilkins for their top of the line stereo package.
Haven't been here in while, sorry. VTENGR - Correct on the differences between 670 & 770, my thought on a few of the differences was that would be more important in a much larger boat than a bow rider. But an upgrade for sure.

Did you get one pair of tower speakers or two?

Wait we can do this? Was this always available in the garmins or just the newer ones?

I have been trying to figure out this same issues. From most of the people on here that I talked to, their Fusion’s are connected to their Garmin system. My new R4 is not connected…Cobalt told my dealer that they don’t connect it…but again…many people here are clearly connected and working.

I think it’s a simple connected and hoping the dealer can get this figured out for me.

Table Rockin I believe this was introduced with the new R Series, but I think if your tech savvy you may be able to figure it out. It's connected on my R8S, I think they connect if you maybe have the platinum sound or maybe with surf model... not sure.

Somehting else wierd and off topic, is that I noticed trim tabs that come on non surf models have the rocker switches with LED indicator lights, and those that come on surf models don't. I think it has somehting to do with the performance mode on the surf model.

With a limited search it does look like it’s an option with the fusion head units and not the older rockfords.

Thanks...is an R6 surf or regular? It's so strange...my dealer forwarded me an e-mail from his Cobalt contact that said "To my knowledge we do not set this up from the factory as such. Is it possible I do believe it is possible using the current units that we do. But as it is we do not set it up."
