Purchasing a 1995 272
Re: Purchasing a 1995 272
Here’s a few pics of the 252. Before winterizing this winter and has plugs wires cap and rotor replaced. The water impeller and housing has been replaced with a stainless aftermarket unit. Can’t recall who made it. The drive has recently gone through. Bellows look like new. Stereo and speakers were just replaced this past year. Only thing that needs some attention is the Sun pad. The rest of the interior is in very nice condition. The two seats have been replaced. I believe they have cobalt insignia embroidered in them so not sure if they came out of a newer boat? The marina it’s being stored at has performed all the work on the boat and the techs there talked highly of the condition of the boat.

Nice pics! Thanks for posting those.
Condition looks very good like you mentioned. The previous owner brought the interior more up to date with the stainless cup holders and JL audio speakers. If you switch out the steering wheel for one having more of a modern look, it will build on the updates to sharpen the helm look. Many on the forum have done the swap. Just do a search if interested.
You’re goin to make many great memories on her. Looking forward to more pics.

Thanks! The trailer needs a little love but nothing major. A buddy had some of his interior taken to a local guy here and said he does an extremely good job. That will be the first thing addressed before getting it out of storage this spring.

Great idea. Check those bearings, lights, and brakes. Enjoy the ride.

Re: Purchasing a 1995 272
Been doing some more research I think I’m going to through a drive shower on it. Seems like cheap insurance for longevity.

Excellent. You must have found our drive shower thread. Good call as Bravo III’s run on the hot side.

Re: Purchasing a 1995 272
That boat is WAY better than the first as far as looks and condition go. About 310 HP with a Bravo 3 should get up on plane quite nice.
The boat in general handles quite well. I have 1998 252 and am quite fond of it's ability to handle chop. Trim tabs do help improve the ride some more. I would suggest a set if you decide to purchase.
Not sure how well it will do on LOTO as I hear it gets pretty snotty out there sometimes?
But it looks nice, rides nice, and is a better purchase IMO.

My brother in law has a 24 foot Mariah and seems to do "ok" down there. The weekdays are of course better than the weekends. Can't wait to get it out of storage this spring and put a few personal touches on it.

Yea we agreed on a price. We are leaving it at the marina for the winter then we will move it down here in the spring. I was really wanting a different 272 that I had found but the wife was sold on this one. We went and looked at it and it seemed to be in better shape than the pictures showed. It had been sold and had all work done at the coralville marina(which is a cobalt dealer) talked to the techs there and they confirmed how nice it was.

That is where it is located currently. Can’t remember the guys name I talked to but he seemed very knowledgeable. This Warner weather this week is really getting me itching to get it out.

Hoping to be out by sometime in April. I’ll be tempted to pull it down to LOTO for a weekend if we’re still too cold up here.sming250r wrote: Wed Feb 09, 2022 9:35 pmtomace13 wrote: Sun Feb 06, 2022 1:52 pmCoralville, IA? I’d like to make it up to Redrock sometime. I think we’ll be going to Rathbun more often since it’s a little closer for us. I think I read about your bad news with your motor. Hopefully that turns out good for you.
