Another season in the books

Post by willyswagon »

The guys from the local shop gave me the word yesterday. My winterization appointment is tomorrow at 0800. We put about 25 hrs on the engine, probably 100 hrs in the boat drifting, swimming, etc. Had a very windy summer this year. Lots of days over 25kts.
Some of the locals say we don't use the boat much. I say it's about enjoyment not engine hrs.

Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable fall boating season.

Same...my boat was taken off buoy in Tahoe today for the season. Unfortunately only put about 8 hours on it...late delivery, schedule conflicts...then the fires. Looking forward to having it back on the lake in May!

Hope others are continuing to enjoy their boats.

It's an absolute beauty morning here! Winds calm and temp at 60 degrees to start the day. Temps heading for 80 by noon. But like most days around here, with heat comes wind. Forecast is for Southerly 20 kts by noon. It's just as well the boat was put in storage so that I'm forced to focus on the fall yard work.

Stay Safe all

We pulled ours out three weeks ago, never put it back in. Such a rainy summer in Alabama, we went boating 7 times all summer.

Gettin ready to line up my appointment for winterizing…

It was a sad day in our house too! I had to leave our R5 behind to be winterized. I left it in great hands! We are busy the next few weekends so there is no sense in prolonging the agony. If I leave it now it won’t take long for them to get it done so I can get her back home and in my shed for the LONG Minnnesota winter.
I remember when my daughter was younger she would cry when we dropped the boat off in the fall to be winterized. She doesn’t cry anymore but I still do!

We hardly ever used our last boat after labor day. The R5 with the head opened up more time for us since I begrudgingly agreed to using the port-a-potty. Great last summer weekend at LOTO.

I agree, the head extends our boating season too. Having kids in sports and 4H shortens our boating season... today would have been a great day on the water but we spent he weekend at a 4H state dog show. My youngest daughter shows one of our English springer spaniels and she was in 4 events. She got 2 reserve champions and 1 grand champion this weekend. Next weekend is a volleyball tournament.

Went and got the boat out of storage Saturday, added stabilizer to the fuel, ran her on the muffs and hose for about 15 minutes, then pushed the drain button and winterized her. Repaired my broken plastic license plate bracket (backed too far into the stall and cracked the plastic) with a new one, and added a second bracket on the opposite side with my stainless Cobalt license plate that my wife and kids got me last year for Christmas. Pulled her back to the storage barn, plugged in the charger, tucked her in and cried goodbye....we ended up with around 78 hours in a year. Her birthday was 9/26. She does need to go back to the dealer this winter for a full service, a detail, and some minor warranty stuff. I've got some spider cracks in the gel coat around the starboard chrome vent, and also some in the floor in front of the step down that need to be addressed and also a spot in a rear cushion where the stitching is tearing the vinyl. Overall, pleased with the first year on her and not ready for winter...
