That said, I've been back and forth with SeaDek regarding a template for our 2008 232. They have one for the platform, but that's it. They also have an 07 232, but are telling me they aren't certain it would work. Rather than building a new template, I've got it in my head it would be a lot easier (and probably $1500 cheaper) to buy the sheet material and use the carpet pieces to make my own. Lastly, I can get the sheet material in a week vs waiting a minimum of 6 weeks for a custom order. Has anyone gone this route( Particularity with the faux teak)? Any tips.....you're an idiot, spend the money and let them do it counts as well. Tell me if this is the wrong move..

Hello all. First off, after reading quite a few threads, I know boat pics are almost a prerequisite to post, so here you go

Re: SeaDek Sheet Material
Your an idiot, let them do it so it looks as good as possible.
I don't know who you are working with but I had a similar issue with SCwake who fabricated my SeaDek. They sent me the template on the clear sheets that you use to template yourself. After I confirmed that template matched they made the sheets. I assume you are doing the peel and stick, I found it easy enough with two people to install.
Quick process, clean area with acetone, cut the paper backing down the middle and peel off, place the paper side down first to ensure proper alignment. Other person puts sticky side down and holds it in place while the first person then lifts and peals, places the other half. You can also do it yourself by taping it down but it is a longer process for sure.

Re: SeaDek Sheet Material
haha, thanks for the reply. I installed the swim platform no problem. Have since decided we want to do the whole boat, which has led me down the rabbit hole. Thinking my biggest annoyance is the process in general. Getting the template. Sending the template back. Waiting on the product to be made. I'd guess it'll turn into an 8-10+ week turn around. Knowing I can get the sheet material and do it myself seems pretty appealing. There's the chance though it comes out looking DIY, which is what I don't want.......

Hey jm78. So glad you found us!
My concern doing it yourself is how the edges look unfinished. It seems the professional cuts will many times have a border around the edges.
Just my two cents. Honestly I’m in the minority here as a carpet person.
Thanks for the pic and welcome aboard mate!

Re: SeaDek Sheet Material
So your carpet as shrunk just to let you know. It won't fit correct. Tell them to send you the 2007 and go from there. Also if you get your own sheet and in 2 colors, if your handy and own a router you can router the edges to look factory. Just a FYI. Do it!

Ah, good tip on the carpet! I hadn’t given that any thought at all. Router is a great idea as well! Sounds like a good project. Mine may take a little longe than you all. It seems like no time from when your upgrades arrive to getting installed!

Re: SeaDek Sheet Material
I have now seadek'd two boats. Both with seadeks templates. Both have turned out amazing. Spend the money and have them do it. You will NEVER EVER get a factory look cutting the seadek yourself. My latest is my new fishing boat. I actually thought about DIY but then slapped myself and broke out the check book. So happy I did

Whippled, that looks amazing! Still have that desire to DIY just to see how good I can get it. Almost more so a driver over the cost/wait time. Edges are my biggest concern. I’ve seen some nice edges done with 60 grit, but it won’t have that factory edging… Definitely torn!

Re: SeaDek Sheet Material
Jmad go for it! A sheet is dirt cheap compared to having seadek do it. POST PICS!

Re: SeaDek Sheet Material
I have a larger CNC router in the garage doing nothing but taking up space.. I wonder how well it might handle doing this kind of job. Any good leads on the material? I might have to give it a shot..jmad78 wrote: Wed Aug 25, 2021 8:30 am Whippled, that looks amazing! Still have that desire to DIY just to see how good I can get it. capn272, that may be a REALLY fun task! The sea dek teak sheets are $179 (40x80), so you may want to get an off brand roll off of amazon first to experiment on.

Looks like I'm gonna have to build a vacuum table to get the best results.. I guess I better get on that!

Re: SeaDek Sheet Material
I used Aqua Marine and am really happy with the outcome about $1600 with logo on my 262. I would've been majorly concerned with getting all the lines to line up correctly with sheet material.
