We have a 24SD and I agree with you that there doesn’t seem to be much chat about the SD series in general. Very rarely do you ever see one which actually appeals to me.
I love the added width in the bow and the ride is great.
My thoughts are that the reason they aren’t as popular as the R series ...

My daughter’s nickname is Lu-Lee, all of our previous boats have been named simply “Lu-Lee” but since she’s gotten older she has acquired a taste for the finer things. LOL

My findings are not actually for a R series however I have found that if you take a piece of 1-1/4” schedule 40 PVC and sand it down a hair it will slide nicely into the ski pylon on my SD series.
Then go to your local ACE Hardware store and buy the 9’ umbrella they have on sale right now for 29.99 ...
