Re: rearview camera

I have a Garmin rearview camera on my 2023 R8 Surf. It is built in to the transom above the swim platform. The video shows on one of the dash screens and is great to have. I use it 99% for water sports activities. It’s fairly intuitive in that it shows a mirror image on the screen so that it looks ...

Re: Remove stains on tower

Thanks for all your input! I found this product at Fleet Farm and it worked like a charm. Sprayed it on, let it rest for a minute, wiped off.

Re: Wave Customization 2023 R8 Surf

When turned on the trim assist feature will override whatever trim level you select for surfing on the thumb trim switch. So ideally it should to be turned off for surfing. On your Volvo throttle base there is a button labeled Trim Assist on the bottom. It will beep when you turn it on and off. A ...

Remove stains on tower

When I got my boat back from offseason storage and maintenance it had what looked like grease stains on the base of the tower. Not significant but annoying none the less. Here are the pics. My normal Boat Sauce exterior cleaner has no effect on them.
Does anyone have any suggestions of what has ...

Re: CO2 levels while surfing

Out of an abundance of caution I brought a handheld carbon monoxide detector to test the air quality on the swim platform and transom of my 2023 R8 Surf while wake surfing and idling etc. This has the VP forward props. I’ve tested in a variety of conditions and have always had a Zero reading. No CO2 ...

Re: Wave Customization 2023 R8 Surf

Been trying different waves the past couple weeks. I used to go full ballasts, +3, 11.3 mph which creates a large steep wave, not ideal for beginners.
For a milder wave but still long and with good push I will reduce ballast on the surfer side to 55-60%.
I agree with other posters here.. the lack ...

R8 “Surf” lettering manufacturer

I need some help locating the manufacturer of the “Surf” lettering on the transom for my R8S. When the boat was made in 2023 we requested Cobalt to leave the “Surf” badge off to leave open space for a future boat name.
The “Surf” letters are high quality and fancy, not the average boat name sticker ...

Re: 496mag HO “very sluggish power” ????

Bad gas? Years ago I accidentally put some in that had ethanol blended in and my engine ran sluggish like you described. Had to get it pumped dry.

Re: anchor chain

This summer we painted our anchor chain every 5 ft in a red, white, blue pattern for 50 of the 75 or so feet of rode that came with the boat.
We used some industrial strength spray paint that hopefully will last 5 years. Yes over time it will wear away but so long as the person running the windlass ...

Re: 2023 Cobalt R6 Surf - Issues

We have a new 2023 R8 Surf and had a list of items that broke or stopped working this summer. I brought the boat to the dealer for the post engine break-in service and they fixed all of them, all covered by warranty. My previous boat was a new Chaparral and it was the same thing.. a bunch of issues ...

Re: Wave Customization 2023 R8 Surf

I’ve been tweaking the surf setting on my R8S all summer and found the best wave is full ballasts, 11.3 mph, and +3 trim angle. You do need to turn off the Trim Assist. Effective for both right and left sides.

Water Pump

Hey everyone,

Need help with our water pump. Our new 2023 R8S has the transom shower and electric head. This is our first month having it on the water and we love the boat. Unfortunately we can’t get the shower or toilet to draw water.

The valve is open in the bilge and we push the Water Pressure ...
