Re: R5 Tower Strut tension spring
Yes, it does. Thanks for the advice and link. I’ll have to take one off to get pics of the connector ends as they are not visible.

Re: R5 Tower Strut tension spring
Not of the full spring, just a close up of the sticker. I will try to get a full photo this week.

R5 Tower Strut tension spring
Just curious, does anyone know who manufactures the tower struts and how easy they are to replace? Mine no longer hold up our tower and I would like to replace them myself if I can find the correct replacement part. I do know that one is a 145lbs tension spring while the other is a 125lbs. Any help ...

Re: Tower Speaker Help
Ok, to those who took the time to offer your help, thank you, it really is appreciated. After taking another look at it this weekend (warm enough to go out on the lake!! Yes!) I think it is just too much for me to try and tackle. In trying to run the "test" wires to see how they sound in parallel ...

Re: Tower Speaker Help
AsLan, yes, thanks for your message, the edit was helpful. I haven't had time to get back over to the boat to run some test wires yet, but hopefully sometime today or tomorrow. My big worry, still, is that I won't be able to find the transom and tower wires that are currently tied together to ...

Re: Tower Speaker Help
Thanks all for the advice, AsLan, I appreciate the detail and diagrams, helps me make sense of it.
I suppose to go that route, I will need to find the tower/transom speaker wires to remove the Series and put them in parallel....might be a chore, but at least it's a smaller project. I'll see what I ...

Re: Tower Speaker Help
Yeah, it does seem I might be stuck. Would love to try the jl 7's but not much point in buying them just to see if they are any better. If there are no other suggestions that might help, this may be the end of it.

Re: Tower Speaker Help
OK, so here it goes, sorry this is going to be long and I'll try to explain what I found the best that I can.
First, there are actually 12 speakers plus the sub on the boat. 8 in the cockpit, 2 towers, and 2 transoms. I forgot about, or actually did not realize, that there are two small speakers ...

Re: Tower Speaker Help
LOL, yep, FIP's, I understand. No, I'm located in central IL, not the Chicago area. Boat on a small local lake in Springfield mainly, some over on Shelbyville and at least once a summer over to Table Rock.

Re: Tower Speaker Help
Thanks everyone. The boat is not in my driveway, but at a storage unit only 5 min away, so easy to get too. I'm going today to dig around and see what I can figure out, then I'll see what way to go. I can take some photos of the towers, and no, I haven't looked at the wiring yet, they are up in the ...

Re: Tower Speaker Help
BBP, thanks for the catch....I really need to keep things simple. Mr. Nauti, thanks for your input and for making it easier to understand. Chris, great idea on keeping the Sampson's and adding additional's, could be really great. I do want to know what the Sampson's sound like fully powered before i ...

Re: Tower Speaker Help
Lol, Chris, is does feel that way. It came from the dealer like this. But to be honest, that dealer has closed down after having their dealership pulled by Cobalt for doing some "creative" things with trades and financing......

Re: Tower Speaker Help
I haven’t played with the fade/balance, etc yet but will do that when I start checking the speaker wires. I will definitely pay attention to the towers as that is really my main issue. If they are powered out of the head unit, would that account for such a lack of power coming from them?
Even if ...

Re: Tower Speaker Help
BBP, sorry, I misunderstood about the wire gauge, and now see from you previous post you mentioned power and ground and I missed it, only thinking about speaker wire. I do want the system to sound good and run properly, but you are right, we really don't need it to crank up a ton. Usually someone ...
