4.3 185 hp prop

Hey guys-Trying to help my cousin. He has an old-non Cobalt boat with the 185 hp, 4.3 Merc motor and a three blade, 17P prop. He is wanting to replace it with a better prop-SS or not. What blade/pitch would be good for a middle of the road boating. They do not ski much. Anyone here have any ...

Re: Post your hotrod or land toy

I love that everyone has a passion for cars..and boats!
The Healey 100 is such a pure car-I really wanted one of them, but could not turn down the big 6 cylinder when I came across it.

Re: Post your hotrod or land toy

I have a British car problem! I race the 1959 Bugeye (Number 71), and the 1972 Merlyn Formula Ford (Number 27), and drive the 1966 red Austin Healey as my street car-it has a race prepped 3 litre straight six in it, and then I am rebuilding and just bought my pop's 1960 black MGA. I bought a Cobalt ...

Re: 4.5L B3 impeller change DIY

I use the Fram HP-1 oil filters in my race cars-We always cut them open and look for metal shavings. Once you have cut apart a few different brands-The Fram was heads and shoulders above the others. We also have used an Oberg flat filter system that you open and inspect and clean the screen and ...

Cobalt Trailer wheel bearings

Hey gang-So I am in need of some help here. My 2015, 220S, sits on a tandem axle Cobalt "Phoenix" trailer. It has the "Vault" sealed axle system and states they are not serviceable? I typically carry a hub or bearing set with me for trailering to other far away lakes-and like to regrease my hubs ...

I only had my boat out 3x before I had to put her away for the winter-Gauge showed me 53 mph with just two of us in the boat.

Also-Thanks for the info- bruceb58, I found a manual on ebay for the 4.5L and bought it.

4.5L B3 impeller change DIY

Anyone here have the 4.5L Merc and performed their own impeller change? I cannot seem to find any current videos on it anywhere. I ask, as I thought I might try it myself-and make it an every other year thing-safety first, you know! But, With my boat stored now, I cannot even go look to see if it is ...

Re: Flag Mount Suggestions

I didn't want to drill holes, so I bought these mounts that fit over a tube and did a small flag on each side of the rear deck. This picture was of it right after I pulled her out of my storage garage and had installed the sea deck.

Re: Cobalt versus Sea Ray

We had a Bryant that we sold this summer as we wanted an upgrade. I loved my Bryant-no wood in the boat, the quality was amazing..So I thought! I was looking for a used but newer Sea Ray, and almost pulled the trigger on one that I found. I knew about Sea Ray boats as a close friend had a 34 foot ...

Extreme engine bay heater

Anyone here use the Extreme heater? I am thinking I may buy the 300watt heater to sit in my engine bay while I store the boat, so I can use her earlier in the season and not worry about her freezing. I winterize the boat-but would like to be on the water in April-where we still get some 28 degree ...

Sardis Lake-Mississippi

Hey gang. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and have been building Christmas lists of boating accessories like I have!

Anyway-I have a question. Our boating lake-Lake Monroe in southern Indiana is a lake I grew up on and know very well. I also trailer to Dale Hollow every year and boat ...

Re: Speaker replacement and wiring.

Thanks John-Great thoughts. I need to pull up the cushions and spend some time looking at the wiring and perhaps make this a summer project and not try to rush it. We never used our boat stereo system before-just a bluetooth portable speaker-but this boat has me thinking bigger picture and even as ...

Re: Speaker replacement and wiring.

The radio unit is a Sony DSX-S310BTX unit by the way. It has bluetooth-which my other boat did not-So that is a great upgrade!

Re: Speaker replacement and wiring.

I like high end sound too..This stock system sounds way better than what I had..But I have been thinking I would like to add some more power..without needing to rewire everything..Looks like I will need to do just that though. Not too difficult to get wires run in the sides is it? Power from on of ...
