OK trailer experts need some info or your opinions. Current trailer is holding a 04 262 with 8.1 sitting on triple axle trailer. Question is, will moving the boat forward 2" to 3" change the tongue weight too much and upset the percentage on each axle and make it tow different.
Looking to store the boat on the trailer and the 2" to 3" gain would help in locating a unit that's long enough and open. Something i didn't think about when buying a bigger boat. Same goes for finding a slip big enough as well.

You'll change the weight on each axle somewhat, but the other thing to keep an eye on is tongue weight. If you're changing from 8% to 10% you're probably fine, but if you're already at 15%+ I may look for another solution. My trailer has a swing tongue, for example, for fitting into short storage spaces better.

A 26’ hull moved 2” changes the weight distribution 0.6%. I don’t think you’d notice any difference at all. Leaving a cooler full of ice in the bow would make a bigger difference. Worst case, the axles on most trailers can be moved a couple inches to offset the change. If you don’t mind spending money, get a trailer with a folding tongue or have yours modified.
