Can a windlass be added to a 2 series boat and if so, where do we start????

When we bought our Cobalt the sales manager said that any options we don't get they can add on later, with the exception of a Windlass. Too much risk/issues with reinforcing the proper areas. Sorry, not what you wanted to hear I am sure.

I was told the same thing. Then found a seasoned mechanic who added one with the necessary reinforcement. A tweak here and there, and it's been working fine for numerous seasons.

I suspect adding the proper supports for a windlass during manufacture makes the anchor locker less usable if you don't have a windlass. As Kate said, it's probably not rocket science, but not something the average dealer with a cash cow service shop in back doing winterizations and the odd engine or outdrive repair wants to start mucking with either. Maybe a fiberglass shop that does marine work would be more interested in helping?

Ha! Fair enough. I was just thinking that an average boat shop or mechanic may have little interest in tackling a project like this, but a fiberglass repair shop might be more amenable and better suited. I can think of some in my area that might be a good fit, but they're not the same places I'd take my boat to have the engine or outdrive repaired.
