I’m considering the purchase of a 1979 Cobalt 19br.
- Two owners since new.
- Fresh water only
- Always in a covered hoist
- Off season always stored in fully enclosed building.
Specific question:
Is this model known for structural deficiencies from the moment it left the factory in 1979?
I saw a reference somewhere that early model year 19brs were known to sometimes present a swaying effect in the
console / windshield area. Enough movement to cause the center walkthru windshield to drop through the opening!
Apparently this weakness was addressed in later years via the installation of a vertical “yoke” to strengthen this area of boat construction.
Any real world experiences or knowledge of this problem?
Thanks.
Classic 19br issues??
