Advice on replacing pedestals on a 1998 232

Post by Idahocowboy »

Anyone suggest replacement pedestal’s, brand or type that would replace the originals? The bolsters are in good condition.

I put the Wise 8WP21-374 pedestals (bought from Amazon) on our '95 220. Work great, did have to drill new holes because they didn't line up exactly with the old ones.

Garelick makes a lot of that kind of thing too - you might check out: https://www.fisheriessupply.com/boat-fu ... g/garelick

I would like the replace the pedestal in my A25 and I have the exact Garelick replacement but no one seems to be able to tell me how the pedestals are attached to the floor.

I am afraid to unscrew the existing pedestal for fear that there are bolts on the underside that I can't get back on.

@mdadgar, on the 220, there is an aluminum reinforcing plate under the fiberglass sole where the seats go. I lnow this based on curly bits of metal coming out while drilling new holes (hopefully you won’t have to do that). The SS machine screws holding down the pedestal just screw into the holes in the floor. Obviously your boat could be different.

Thank you. I’m customizing my boat. Pedestals, new dash, new actuator, gel coat work next on agenda.
