Replace regional forums with sale forums?

One of our members suggested doing away with the regional forums, and having that section be dedicated to sub-forums such as boats for sale boats wanted, parts for sale, parts wanted, etc..
Makes sense to me, as people don't seem to have a lot of things to discuss that are limited to a particular region. Any thoughts or objections to doing away with regional forums and bulking up the "for sale" side of things?

Considering I was it in our region until last week. I would agree.. I may suggest a Craigslist gold for the ridiculous and unrealistic boats and pricing for sale.. We do like to chew stuff up John

Thanks for starting this thread John.
I'll fess up as I started this discussion with John last night.
Just for clarification to John's post above, the part that says "i'm not in favor of the regional format" is in reference to tucking a title-- "boats for sale" in the banner of that area (like it is now).

If we can keep that regional section AND somehow have a "For Sale" sticky somewhere on the site, that would I think be ideal.

IMHO, it would be nice to just have a "Sticky" circle titled
"Cobalt Boats Wanted or For Sale" on the Home page under the
Cobalt Technical and Model Specific area near the bottom. Possibly located just under the Sticky circle labeled
Parts for Sale/Trade/Free.

With that being said, here is a copy of the PM I sent to John last night for discussion purposes......
I (and some others) are not a fan of how that cobalt boats for sale header is currently tucked away on a small banner section of the site. Also not a fan of the regional format. I for one do not look for boats regionally (other than an initial search for convenience). We search all over the country. Especially now that shipping is so cheap. Many others do the same.
It's funny how mycobalt.net has nothing to offer now...EXCEPT a website dedicated to the buying and selling of used Cobalt boats. (for a fee). I want that over here! (Their fees by the way):

Plus, I think it is another way to increase CCforum traffic as well as visitor interest. With the economy chugging along and the market at record highs, Cobalt interest is only going to grow in the immediate future as folks have more and more disposable income to spend. Thus, we should offer an easy way to get into or out of a Cobalt boat. Plus the google metrics would send folks who are in the market for a boat and searching (or selling) over to our site.
Soooo, we think it at least deserves it's own dedicated line on the home page. In fact, IMHO, "Cobalt Boats Wanted or For Sale" should have it's own separate sticky under "Parts for Sale/trade/free".
I would consider the same fee basis as the other site....or....possibly no fee at all just to attract the traffic. We could be THE site for advertising Cobalt boats for sale on an active forum that is only growing. With the economy the way it is, for now the interest is only going to go up.
Your work in getting this site to where it is today cannot be praised enough, John. Let's take it to the next level and get her out of the red.
Now this is where you tell me to go back into the corner and color.

We'll leave the regional for now, and add a "Boats for sale/wanted" sub-forum then, and see how it goes. Not a ton of work to reconfigure it later if it's not ideal.
Edit - done. Let me know what you think of the new configuration,

Nice jobs I like it. I would just have one section for parts over all. We don't need a separate spot for cobalt parts. Thanks John. Good ideas A7

Yeah, I moved the parts category we had before to the new "for sale" section from the technical section, figuring people would be more likely to look for it there. It's a catch-all for parts (sale/trade/free) and not necessarily Cobalt-specific.
