Tonneau cover on my 23 CS22 has now broken 5 button snaps on the sides, and one elastic bungee cord snap on the back. Seems like one out of every 3 times I go out I break another snap. Has anyone else dealt with this? I've been trying to be gentler taking the cover off, but it's still happening.

Is this covered under warranty? Any tips to prevent this from happening?

If they are hard to get unsnapped (which would be why they are breaking) try putting either some silicone (spray) or other lubricant - they usually come in a chap stick type tube. Also if you have a Yeti cooler that came with the zipper lubricant that works good also. Might be covered under warranty, but probably not worth the hassle to get it fixed. Buy a canvas snap tool and keep some extra snaps -- they are very easy to replace. And use the tool on your existing snaps to make sure they are installed tightly. Even in the best of cases your going to break these occasionally. Regarding the bungee cord snaps, there are different sizes, are yours just too small / tight?

Thank you Bill! I swear I had googled diy cover snap fix and didn’t see canvas snap tools. Good to know that’s a good option, I’ll definitely grab one and some of that silicone or lubricant.

The bungee strap, I can’t imagine they are too small, it was sized by the oem after all. That break really surprised me.

I had the same problem. I bought a snap fix replacement kit off Amazon. Its a really easy job. I changed about 20 fasteners. These particular ones aren't quite Cobalt quality but they definitely do the job. If the cover fits well the whole boat doesn't get covered in sand and dust so it is well worth the effort.

I’ve had a similar issue with my cover, and it's definitely frustrating. From what I know, some manufacturers do cover broken snaps under warranty, so it’s worth checking with your dealer or the manufacturer directly to see if they’ll replace them.

As for preventing it, I’ve found that warming up the cover a bit on hot days before removing it helps. Cold weather tends to make the material stiffer and more prone to breaking snaps. Also, try unbuttoning the snaps one at a time and avoid pulling too hard on any single point.

I had the same problem every time I towed the boat. My snaps were the exact opposite. So loose they wouldn't stay snapped which allowed a larger area to flap and pulled the whole snap out. Dealer replaced multiple snaps as they pulled out of the fiberglass. I gave up on the snap covers and went to the mooring cover. Expensive fix, but it solved the issue.
