2003 293 AC

Post by Lowrider03 »

Is it possible or worth the hassle to add AC to the 293. There is a breaker in the panel for it, but not included as a build option. Any advice is greatly appreciated. :D

There's an older one for sale near me in rough shape and has seen salt but it has A/C (as old as the boat). One vent in the head and one in the V-Birth by the outside of the cedar lined closet. I've thought of it, but honestly I'm not planning on overnighting much if at all and the cost is significant just for the parts. Looking to see if there are alternatives but not in a rush for now. Saw a mini unit out of China that could just be either mounted in the access hole behind the stairs or brought out and placed on the counter by the circuit panel. Would have to figure out a way to vent the warm exhaust out the port.

Has anyone considered a DC air conditioning system? Rather than run a generator, you would use a battery bank similar to what sailboats do. I've seen some articles on 24 and 12 volt systems.
