2006 Cobalt 272 Beeping a Single Beep…

Hi everyone,
I’m thrilled to join this community of passionate Cobalt boat owners! My name is Mike, and my wife and I recently purchased a 2006 Cobalt 272 with a Volvo 8.1 GXi. This is my first boat and I’m looking forward to learning more about it and connecting with fellow enthusiast
I’ve already encountered my first challenge: I’ve only had the boat in the water two times for less than an hour total. Our boat has been beeping a single beep every 10 seconds. Has anyone encountered this before? Any ideas on what this could indicate or how to diagnose the issue?
I appreciate any advice and look forward to getting to know you all.
Mike

So glad you found us Mike.
Have you explored your depth finder alarm setting? Many times this is the culprit.
Any pics?
And welcome aboard mate!

Also check that the lanyard for kill switch is plugged in if you have one.

Boat shouldn't start or run without lanyard plugged in.

No it will start and run what would happen if the person fall’s overboard and there are people on board they cannot get the boat started ? Our boat starts and runs without lanyard in I know when it fell out and I had the beeping sound as well.

We had just the opposite experience. First year boating, Volvo Penta, backed into the water and boat would not start. An experienced boater next to us on the ramp came over and checked the switch. My wife had accidentally pulled it while cleaning in the off season. Boat then ran.

Our boat is a 2018 R7 so maybe they changed that from your build. I was actually under the same impression as you until it was pulled out and we started out and it beeped. I guess it depends on year model and maybe even power selections. We have a Volvo penta drive with a 380.

I went this morning to checked the depth finder setting, and I think i need to replace the Air/Water Temp Gauge and the Depth Sensor, I tried the little toggles that controls those gauge and they feel loose and the actual gauges didn’t respond to anything i was trying with the toggles

If you don't have the manual to your depth finder, try this post. Lots of good info.
