Panicking for nothing or reason?

So the boat is sitting in my drive for this winter. It was winterized by the business that I purchased from, before I ever took delivery. I have cleaned on it, inside and out... last night I noticed a brown spot that I have never seen before making me think it is new...but that doesn't make sense. I took the best pic I could, you may have to zoom in.

Thoughts on what that could be? Damage from water freezing somehow or just something I have somehow managed to miss since day 1?

It's hard to tell by the pics, Judd, but is that raised at all or is it just a stain?

Is it located below the fuel receptacle?

it is not raised at all. It is not under the fuel receptacle.. it is about even with the captain seat or close.

I know it is hard to see .. it does look like a brown stain. just can not believe I would have never noticed it before last night. I just can not begin to imagine what it is or what it is from. I don't see it being from a bumper or something like that.

Roger. Great to hear it’s not raised.

Does it continue below under the hull?

Could be just something that splashed up on that side causing discoloration.

Buff it out. If it comes back, something internally is leaking. Fiberglass is porous.

Hard to see but as the seasons drag on and as stated the fiberglass is porous.. Water stains actually are brown spots that appear below the surface of the gelcote.

I know this Bio-kleen says "oxidation remover" but its the best for getting yellow off the hull as opposed to Hull Cleaner. Ill spray some spots during the year and then hit it with a Silicon Polymer wax to prevent it from coming back...

Heres what I use

Now those pics make it look like it had some work done...as if the gelcoat has been sanded down.

Did you try removing any of the stain (if it is one), Judd?

No, I haven't done anything to it yet.

I'll try cleaning on it as soon as the temps rise above freezing

+1 those photos show it better now..

Its possible Gel repair that pigment coloring wasn't correct. White is tough..

I wouldn't worry until you either treat or color sand it to see if its just a top layer repair gone chalky.. Besides, it happens....

Good to know. Sorry for the worry and questions, since it's my first.

I did check and that doesn't show anything from the bottom, only on the side

I might be able to walk out into my garage and look at my boat. Mine is not that bad. I really have to look hard to find it. But everytime I wash it I find it almost in the same spot. It looks like a water scum stain on mine. I wipe it down rub it clean it and it seems to go away then it comes back. It's odd but I don't get too concerned. I'm prob the only one that can see it.

Judd it looks like a repair to me. Is it possible to ask the prior owner?
