Trim Switch

Post by JimGilly »

Anyone replace their outdrive trim switch? My VP 350 R5 trim switch is excessively hard to operate; trim unit functions just fine, but it often takes two hands on the switch to get it to operate. Hoping to learn is that switch is replaceable, and if so, how hard or simple the job? Thanks for any advice.

Is this the switch located on the throttle control, or on the transom? If the transom, I'd pull the switch, and order that part number or cross reference it. It should be a pretty simple job.

The original equipment was made by SeaStar and Volvo put their sticker on it. When replacing my throttle control assembly I needed a small part that was missing in the kit I purchased. When contacting SeaStar I learned they have recently been bought out by Dometic and they have purged stock of the older parts. Give Seastar a shout and see if they have something that will work. Otherwise you may need to replace the entire throttle control lever which is fairly easy to do. Or, maybe ebay for a used one that you can rob the switch from.
