Hi all, I am new to the forum and new to boating. Coming from the world of WaveRunners, but happily in this camp now. We sold all our Waverunners and bought a 2019 220S, VP V6, 280HP (with just 64 hours on it) in August and we are thrilled with it. It came to me with a Garmin UHD 74xx chart plotter installed and functioning as designed. I would like to add the engine data to the Garmin as the speedometer gauge is not functioning and it would be easier to see all that info on one single screen vs across multiple gauges. I've done some research and have noticed Yacht Devices and Fox Marine Engine Gateways for the VP engines primarily. Has anyone here used the Yacht Devices Engine Gateway on a 220S or similar boat (with a VP V6 280ho DuoProp) and if so, what were your results and thoughts. The install looks pretty straight forward as long as you've got a functioning NMEA2000 backbone installed.
Thanks in advance, I look forward to hearing from the community..

As far as speed, you already have that data since the chartplotter will show your GPS ground speed already.
I do agree that having all the engine data displayed on the Garmin is a great feature.

Yes, I have GPS speed on the Garmin, but having all the engine data in one place on there as well would be very helpful. I bought the Yacht Devices Engine Gateway. I will let the forum know how it goes and what type of data I actually get from my engine. The gateway is supposed to provide the following information to the Garmin Gauges Applet:
RPM (engine revolutions)
Total engine hours
Coolant temperature
Battery voltage and current
Alternator potential and current
Engine and transmission warnings and alarms
Coolant pressure
Boost pressure
Engine oil pressure
Engine oil temperature
Fuel tank level and tank capacity
Fuel rate
Fuel delivery pressure
Percent engine load
Percent engine torque
Exhaust gas temperature
Transmission current gear
Transmission oil pressure
Transmission oil temperature
Multisensor data (EVC-A engines)
Engine tilt/trim
Intake manifold temperature
We'll see how it goes and what information I actually get. More to come.

I made my own and have sold a couple on here. It is just a single cable with a connector for the J1939 connection on your display, and the mating connector for the OBD diagnostic port on the engine. I think I have sole them for $125. Just enough to cover the materials and the time to solder the pins and such.
