Holding Tank Size - R5
Holding Tank Size - R5
Two of the options we had to have on our R5 are a head and a windlass. We have the porcelain electric head with a sink. Most days we are out anchored and away from any facilities for most of the day and it just adds a great convenience. Mine pulls water from the lake and flushes into a holding tank. For the sink I have a freshwater tank, which I know is 10gal. My question is, does anyone know how large the holding tank is? I am guessing around 10gal based on the time it takes to fill (I have never let it get complete full!). I can't find a reference to the holding tank size in any of the manuals.

Re: Holding Tank Size - R5
Nor have I, but I am under the impression the holding tank is 10 gallons. Where is your pump out access located? I have a new to me R5, and that is one thing I cannot find documented. Need to know to winterize properly. Thanks!
Re: Holding Tank Size - R5
Pump out is port side between windshield and bow seat. Never got an answer, even called Cobalt. Based on using it and flushing / pumping out, my guess is 10gal also.

Re: Holding Tank Size - R5
Do you guys pump out the waste tank yourself or does the marina do it? Is it just a single pump out, or is it refilled and then pumped out several times for cleaning?
I noticed that your R5’s have a nifty little shelf on the port side of the head compartment. That space where your shelf is located is really wasted on my 240 and I would like to add my own shelf. Any close-up pics would be greatly appreciated. How is your shelf attached?

I can look at how it is attached next time I am at the lake. As far as pump out, I pull up and the dockhand hands me the hose and I pump it out -- then I fill it with fresh water and pump again. Last pumpout of the year, I fill it it with freshwater and go for a ride, to rinse it good, then pump it out.

Thank you. I’m hoping to make mine look as factory as possible. I’m not sure how easy or hard it will be to match the factory white vinyl.billk2632 wrote: Sun Oct 15, 2023 7:23 pm I can look at how it is attached next time I am at the lake.

Thinking about this more, I have the sink and counter in my head. You are thinking of the ones that just have a shelf / cubby along the port side. Don’t think my pictures will help.

The tank on my R7 is a 10 gallon.Titaniumboy wrote: Sun Oct 15, 2023 7:07 pm Do you guys pump out the waste tank yourself or does the marina do it? Is it just a single pump out, or is it refilled and then pumped out several times for cleaning?

Pump out for us?
First rule? No one takes a no.2, so it's all pee. I also use the blue liquid smell eliminator in the tank.
When its full, I drop a long syphon tube down in the pump out hole and with a few bulb squeezes, out it comes and into a bucket.

The only reason my wife wanted a head was for emergency no. 2. Peeing is refilling the lake.

LOL. No number 2 allowed. We’ll stop somewhere for that. Funny how when you have flushing toilet, everybody’s gotta pee.
