Aftermarket radio on 1999 190

Hey guys

I installed an aftermarket radio on my 190 bc the sony stopped working

I got a Pyle 75x4 watt headunit ($45) it and the cabin has Sony xs-mp61s

When I hook up all 4 speakers you hear the lows distorting hard. I mean my portable speaker sounds better.

I’m wondering if I wired them wrong or this headunit is trash

Would anyone have a stereo wiring diagram they can shoot over or post?

Possible solution?

Thanks in advance.

Hey MrN...so glad you found us.

Although the head unit is on the cheaper side it should still play those Sony speakers clearly. When you say distorting do you mean unintelligible at all volume levels or when pushing hard? How are the condition of your speakers? Any dry rot?

And welcome aboard mate.

Hello!,

When the speaker gets louder thats where i hear the distortion. I have noticed left side speakers no big deal when i connect the 2 right thats where power drops significantly speakers also look old. I have ordered new kickers 5.25s and a nice pioneer headunit was hoping i can solve this problem without spending too much money on a radio haha

Wiring is terrible in our year boats. You may want to run new wires also.

You’re not kidding. Once I pulled the head unit out and saw the wiring, I just started cutting and pulling.
