Hey gang, have a new CS23 almost 1 year old. The fiberglass is cracking in a few spots. Can any of you advise? Warranty? Not covered? I am attaching images.

That is horrifying in a one year old boat. I would definitely think that is a warranty issue.

Yes it’s covered under warranty. We had small spider cracks around fender clips on our R7 and was repaired under warranty without any issues.

It should be covered, but get it in the system... I have had them fixed twice under warranty and once on my own.Cobalt has zero tolerance on that these days- They left me on my own for spider cracks 30 days out of warranty--no discussion or wiggle room.

We are having same issue… 2022 R8S. Almost 70 hours. Dealer is being great says they’ll fix it no problem. But I’m worried that this may be first of many? Does having one show up mean I’m likely to see others down the road or is this just a fluke? Reading on line says sometimes can indicate structural issues, sometimes can be that the gel coat was applied too thick. Dealer says sometimes happens and nothing really to worry about as it’s a cosmetic issue. Thoughts???
Second pic is a close up.

Makes me not want a Cobalt built since Malibu took over.

Other makes have the same issue. I would take a R series any day of the week.

I agree BB… I hope this is just a fluke thing and not something that is a frequent reoccurrence. I have two more years before the gel coat warranty is through. This is my fourth cobalt and the first time I’ve experienced this issue.

I recognize other brands have the issue too. Just seems more common these days from Cobalt than in the past, but this is also a pretty small sample size of the ownership.

Yea we've seen plenty on the even series more than like the cs series. Same group of employees building them. Hopefully not a flaw. If it is they will fix it.

Wasn't there an issue with Cobalt gelcoat that was stored (or transported) in TX during
the deepfreeze (Feb 2021)? When was your boat built?

I don't anything about that. My boat vin number or hull ID number says it was manufactured December of 21 so maybe that has something to do with it.
