242 Additional Walk Through Cushion Found, Missing Hardware?

Post by Aiu »

Hey gang,
Anyone have a cushion like this (depicted in a slightly longer boat, I assume.) that can share how it is installed? The previous owner of my 242 recently found an additional cushion they never used. We noticed that the shape matches the walk through area and we found a picture of it in use however, when I attempted to set it into place it seems like the cushion is a bit too big and the walk through gate will have to be removed. Is there any hardware that we are missing?

Thanks!

I don’t have a 242 but it looks like you have the correct cushion but you might be missing the correct mounting brackets? See in the bottom picture how the walk through cushion is level with bigger lounge cushions on the engine hatch. I would imagine that something has to hold it up there. It looks like it would rest on the flat spot on the gunnel but something has to hold it up on the engine hatch side.

I bet it just treats on the 2 ledges on each side. No hardware needed?

Quite possible. It does look like the right cushion.

Hard to tell by the angle of the picture, but (like you stated) it looks like the walk through door is in the way of where the cushion would go. Maybe that's why they never used the filler cushion.

Yes, it's hard to tell. But it looks to me that it maybe too long. Find it hard to believe you'd have to remove the door to use the cushion.

Thanks for replying! The previous owner and I agree with everyone. The gate definitely has to be removed. And it's easy to remove it from the mount in a fraction of a second. However, the mount is pretty much there permanently. I am going to reach out to Cobalt directly soon. As soon as it does I will post the solution. Thaks again!
