New member with a new R3

Howdy all. My wife and I picked up our new R3 on labor day weekend. We love, love, love it! My wife has limited boating experience, I have..... moderate perhaps. Hardly any in the last 20 years (got into motorcycles), but was more involved in boating in my younger days. I grew up with a small fishing boat, and I used to be a tow boat driver for a local waterski club.
I have a general question about care products. When you look at them in stores and online, the sky is the limit. What cleaning, polishing, waxing, etc. products should I consider? What ones should I stay away from? I'm aware of Babe's and Boat Bling. Anything particular to Cobalt boats that I should use vs stay away from?

Thanks

Welcome Bender! Look down in the Maintenance forum and you'll see lots of info. And the rule is, pics or your boat doesn't exist!

And beware the hijackers around here. They'll welcome you then twist off on butterflies and unicorns...

Hey welcome to the Cobaltchat forum Bendercrna. So glad you found us!!!

Yes post pics of that beauty.

Adam's H20 seems popular as an after boating spray to keep her sparkling when she comes out of the water. Just spray down that waterline, wipe and she's ready to go again.

I use 3M products for cleaning and waxing.

Others will chime in.

Again, welcome. Hope you stay awhile.. 8-)

Products I like to use
If you don't own a orbital Polisher you need to get one, Porter Cable/Flex
try http://www.autogeek.net/boatandrv.html to look at options
If I'm cutting oxidation I use a polisher with wool pad, 3m products
General maintenance I like Meguiars Flagship Wax, goes on and off easy, lots of options out there,
I am currently using a bottle of Driven Marine wax I picked up at a boat show, also seems good
General Cleaner for interior- been using Spray 9, 10.00 a gallon at Home Depot, use it in the house/cars etc.
Protectant303 Vinyl Protector
I'm anxious to try the Adam's H20 product, sounds pretty good

Welcome! Better hurry up and post those pics before all these boys get upset! Congrats on the new boat!

Tried the boat bling this season and like it a lot. We also use Meguiars products for waxing.

Nice Boat and welcome from California.. Post a Pic as we need proof of life.

I like The polymer wax from Bio-kleen (Driven is also a Polymer but thinner in coating) as its makes it anti stick/ slime and prevents yellowing. plus its easy to wax on-off

Another product line that regularly receives good reviews is the 303 (Gold Seal) line of cleaners and protectants - you can buy them on Amazon, but their website is https://www.goldeagle.com/products?f%5B ... ation%3A47

And, congrats on the new boat! Was that Parks Marina? I've been by there in Sioux Falls, but haven't yet made it to Okoboji.

Where are my manners, I take it, you would like to see some pics...Haha. I don't have any of her in the water because while we've had her out, I've been on it, figuring things out, I know you understand.

Anyway, the pic of her in the ramp is when we were headed to out boat "orientation" at the dealership. She's sitting on the trailer, waiting for our maiden voyage, the pic with the pickup is when we were pulling her home, and the inside pic is where we keep her when she isn't in the water.

Enjoy

Great pics and welcome to the site from Ohio. I have same color scheme as you except reversed with black the main colors. Go army, go Iowa JUST NOT go steelers. I bought my 2014 220s this summer. Been enjoying getting to know her. I'll be interested to hear the wax opinions too as I have only used maguires quick wax but need to get into the real stuff soon. Have also used maguire viynal spray products but will switch to boat bling when done. Where do u do your boating?

ajcampen, I'm located in South Dakota. We boat on Missouri river reservoirs in South Dakota, lakes in Northwest Iowa and Southwest Minnesota.
