DP Outdrive stuck in Up position-Cause?

Hello

I have a 2001 226 with Vp DP out drive

When docking the boat I must have been pressing the Trim switch to the up position when reaching over the side. When I looked back the trim was all the way up, and when I tried to put it back down nothing happens—-no sound from the trim motor at all. My guess is that one of the trim relays went bad. Any other thoughts? I would think if it was a hydraulic issue the drive would not stay up.

Thanks in advance

Assuming you don't hear any noise with the switch either up or down, check the circuit breaker to see if has tripped. Pretty rare that neither work unless you lost power or the trim pump all of a sudden went bad. If it was a relay, one direction would still work.

Thanks for the info. Marina jumped the pump directly to the battery and was able to get the trim to work. I have pulled it from the water so mechanic can take a a closer look, hope to hear this week the diagnosis. I might just have the assembly replaced given that it is 20 years old now.

Never heard of two relays going bad at the exact same time. Of course if you find one relay bad, might as well just change them both.
