Post by MnLakeBum »

May greeted us in MN with a perfect day in the low 80’s and it was the ideal weekend to get the boats and SeaDoos in the water. My daughter and her friends all had an amazing day and got there first surfing of the season in even though the water is a chilly 51*. The restaurants on the lake were surprisingly busy for so early in the season :D

One more of a very orange pontoon boat I hadn’t seen on the lake before until yesterday.

Ah finally some nice weather on a weekend! Had the boat out since late March but we’ve only been able to use it twice. But today was perfect. Low 80’s and the water temp is starting to creep up. Not quite swimming weather as it was 63 degrees. Need another 10* before I get in.

Nice pictures tank! Put your big boy pants on.
I know I would be in the water today. Mid 70s already. Boat is gassed up and getting closer to being ready by June. 😂😂
I'll get the impeller, belt and plugs in and then Im done.

Last year we lucked into new expansion Cabana slips at our marina on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. It was still under construction last year, but now good to go. The new skips allow for you to build a 16 x 12 deck with 12 x 12 Cabana on it. People go all out with their setups. Some put in tiki bars, others throw bunk beds in and sleep in their Cabana.

So, I spent the weekend building the deck and the Cabana. Hopefully get it finished next weekend and the boat launched.

Thanks. Lots left to do. Will have an outdoor kitchen setup behind it when it's done. Also has cable and Wifi. Work from home just got a whole lot sweeter!

Lake looks low!!! I thought it was just about full up!

I bet that treated lumber deck cost more than the slip itself

Not a lot of snow this winter in NH, so yes it's a bit low. Need rain!

And yes that lumber bill stung!

We headed to Highline yesterday....water was maybe upper 50's...didn't stop the kids from wakeboarding...put about 3 easy hours on the boat...and sat through our first big rainstorm in it...overly impressed with the amount of canopy coverage the tower bimini provides! Also seem to have gotten all of my previous sensor failure and error code bugs worked out...upgraded the Garmin's...just a nice afternoon before the rain came in. It has been raining here non-stop since about 5 pm yesterday. We needed it badly!

Love this and great idea! Wish our marina had an option like that. Closest we can come to that is if by chance you had a much bigger slip and filled it in.

Yeah it's pretty cool. Only marina on the lake that has Cabana slips. It was a 250 slip marina with about half traditional docks and half Cabana. The existing Cabana slips only have space for a 12x10 deck and Cabana. They had been trying to expand for 13 years. Finally got approval in 2019. So they call the new row of slips we are in the "Miracle Mile." In addition to the 12 x 16 deck we get a 6 x 12 space behind it for a grill space which I think we can put pavers over the gravel. And then we also get a dedicated parking spot right next to our spot. Marina is also building a pool with Tiki bar that will open next season. Idea there is some days the lake is a bit rough to boat enjoyably, so this will be another amenity for members to enjoy. They already had a boat to only private beach on the property, which we loved last year. Now that the word has gotten out, the wait list is 400 people deep.

We are very lucky. I just happened to be at the right place at the right time last spring. Considering a modest camp on Winnipesaukee starts at $1M, this is a pretty good "slumming it" alternative for us.

I'll update with more pictures as we finish our build and move in.
