Transom speakers

Post by ikucera »

I've got a 2016 A28, just purchased this fall. It was ordered with the RF transom remote but no transom speakers. How difficult is it to add transom speakers? It looks like there is about 8 inches behind the engine compartment that can't easily be accessed to add speakers. Anybody have any experience adding transom speakers to an A28 or like boat?

While I was wiring in my underwater and swimstep lights on my R5, I saw the connectors there for rear speakers. I know that if I decided to add rear speakers to my boat, cutting the hole where the speakers would be would make the fishing of the wire a piece of cake.

I think I saw you ask this on the Cobalt Facebook page. My friend has a 2018 (I believe) A28 that has transom speakers. I know he had stereo work done on it right after he bought it, but I don't know if those speakers were already there or not. His Facebook name is Dennis Poorboy Simmons if you want to hit him up. I know he had the work done at All Elements Auto and Marine in Wichita Kansas. Their lead installer is named Jake. He did the system in my 252 which included cutting in transom speakers. He may be able to give you some insight.

All of the boats are prewired. They are back there. You have stand on your head to find them and look hard for them. Then you have to find the other end as well.

Took me over an hour to find one of the swimstep light connectors. They like to hide.

As stated on the Facebook page, once you cut the holes, the wire routing becomes simple. When I wired my swimstep lights, I actually inserted an inspection camera from the bilge side to look around before I drilled any holes.

That is from the TRL regatta last summer. I see you are in Kansas. You should make it this summer!

Found the speaker wires by the stereo head unit, but man, can’t sort out all the stuff behind the engine. May be getting some “professional” help.

Btw definitely interested in the TRL regatta , details???

Last weekend of July at Table Rock. The Harbor puts one on every year. Last year they had 200 boats register
