Looking to upgrade to a Bluetooth head unit on my β01 226. If I replace the head unit in the glove box, do I need to upgrade the wired remotes as well to run Bluetooth? If so, does anyone have any βbundleβ recommendations for a head unit and wired display remotes?
Thanks!

The remotes in the boat now don't have anything to do with Bluetooth. Get a new Sony unit and most of the functions will work. Make sure the head unit can't take wired remotes. Or upgrade to wireless remote and a head unit that accepts that.

I ended up doing what BBP recommends as I have sony remotes and purchased a new sony remote. you will keep everything but the digital display on what song your on, etc. If I did it all again. If I did it all again I would buy a fusion head unit and the bluetooth non hardwired remotes. i would have to fix the hole in my dash and the hold in the transom for the remotes I would remove. honestly I would prob punt a starboard blank in the transom and stick a fusion bluetooth remote on it. The dash would be more of a project.

If your remotes work fine just buy a Sony had unit. Unless you're going big or plan on going big then go with a diff brand.

I am wondering about the same project on our '13 220 and am fine with the sound quality of our factory Sony but just looking for a simple, clean interface and a solid bluetooth setup. Hoping to reuse as much of the existing wiring as possible so looking for a head which will be a direct fit replacement in our glove box and a simple connection to the existing harness. Any suggestions on the process will be appreciated to avoid getting into a project to fix a non-problem.

Surprised you're don't doesn't have BT. Pull the unit and take a look at the plug in on the back so we know if you have a small one or a big one! Dont take that to personal

You can can another Sony to fit right in.

I have a 2012 220 with Sony cdx-m60ui head unit and two Sony rm-x60ms remotes. I spoke with Crutchfield last year on whether or not my remotes would still work with a Sony CD player upgrade. My main purpose was to get BlueTooth outside of using the dongle I use now. I was told that I could use this deck:
https://www.crutchfield.com/S-ecNUVgdil ... l?tp=61742 and this adapter
https://www.crutchfield.com/p_120ASWC1/ ... apter.html which would retain most of the controls of the remote. It is believed the LCD screen wouldn't work, but you should still be able to switch songs, change volume etc.
I haven't changed mine yet, but may do it this year. Let us know if you go this route and if it works for you.
