Hello everyone, we just purchased our first bot, a 1996 Cobalt 232 with 280 hours. We picked the boat up a month ago in Mountain Home Arkansas on Lake Norfolk. The 232 has the 7.4GL and is in perfect condition on the inside. I have already begun modernizing the dash with great results. The boat is in excellent potion and we already have put 30 or so hours on it.
Completed:
Replaced steering cable SSC12417
New Isotta Tivoli steering wheel
Refurbished helm trim, left and right gauge panels and radio surround in carbon fiber from Protech composites.

Needs not in any certain order
1. Repaint lower unit
2. Finish trim on top gauge panel
3. Install additional battery and switch
4. Vinyl snap in flooring..... so many choices!
5. Speaker upgrade
6. Swim platform
7. Hatch actuator problems (need this to work!)
8. Possible carb issue loss of power above 2400 rpm after running it hard, then it sits and is fine again, has only happened twice.

My wife Amanda and I are from Shawnee, KS camp and boat on Melvern and Pomona here in Kansas, my wife and I have 3 kids (15, 13, 11) and we have been having a blast. My wife and I grew up camping and boating and we wanted our kids to have these experiences too before they are gone.

We love our Cobalt!

Welcome rbranst family! So glad you found us!

Phenomenal intro thread. Even an engine pic. Thank you for doing that. Great looking family too.

Nice job on the steering wheel upgrade. 👍

Yes, this is a fantastic age category for the kids to boat. So many great memories already made and so many more to come.

My wife and I are JL Audio fans for inside-boat audio. Creative Audio is a great resource. Talk to James Taylor about Cobalt speaker and amplifier upgrades. 👌 We ALWAYS have tunes playing. It really does complete the experience. And when that tune that you played in the boat comes on the car stereo in the winter, you’ll remember exactly what you were doing with the fam that day on your Cobalt. 8-)

Again welcome aboard mates!

Welcome mate.
Great looking family....the boats nice too...
We're just south of Norfolk Lake at Greers Ferry Lake in Arkansas. I'm really starting to get into looking at all Cobalts, and there are several in our marina alone that look similar in age to yours. All are well kept and looking good too.
Thanks for the pictures, and happy boating.

So did Protech make those for you or just supply the carbon fiber?
