My dealer just got one in. It looks pretty sweet. Much more edgy, as anticipated, for sure.

Thanks for the pics Steve. Some things I noticed:
  • New Vinyl Pattern - My wife is gonna be pissed - she hates the quilted vinyl on our 2020 R5 cause "it will get dirty".
  • In Hull storage looks to be broken into three compartments - nice.
  • Very bottom of the last picture looks like power seat adjustment up/down, front/back?
  • Garmin's look like 10" instead of 7"
  • EVC moved from side mount to dash
  • Wireless charging looks cool
  • 2 cup holders by drivers right foot instead of one
  • Looks like a proper glove box in the head door - nice.

Same thoughts except I like the one big hole compartment on my R7 because that’s where I store my boards

Larger Garmin's appear to be an option. Just saw a different cockpit picture that had the 7" - Have to say the 7" in the new cockpit don't look so good.

Not so excited by the interior styling. Seems less “classy” rather going for the more edgy angular look. But the real “miss” for me is the captains cockpit with what looks like a huge top housing glued onto a lower unit as opposed to a more integrated look. I knew 10” screens were an option, but I’d rather have 7” with a more streamlined look. It looks more like a yacht console than a bow rider console. While the new tower is taller (3” I think) it’s missing the stainless tube that really makes the tower on the previous gen R series stand out. Finally, I’m surprised they didn’t configure the captains chair similar to the copilot seat with a flipping backrest. Maybe the limited beam doesn’t allow it.

It will be interesting to see pricing and the prop charts. With an additional 995 lbs, I sure the boat will have a great ride in rough chop but if it needs a 430 to hit 50 mph, not only wilL that alone make it more expensive than an R5, but it will consume fuel at an alarming rate at 40 mph. Hopefully, styling aside, Cobalt has done its homework.

I was told the R5/R6 would be produced side by side for a short while so I’ll have some interesting options for next season. :)

It will be interesting to see what the boat looks like in person, quality of materials, fit and finish and how it handles and performs on the water.

It could be an R5 they are building for me with a 430 - hopefully I won’t get two foot itus again and need an R7 in another year!

That will just give us another reason to go back to the factory again the following year 😂😂

I’ll hold judgment until I see one in person. I ragged and ragged on the a29 but actually liked it when I saw it in person. It was just missing a second motor.

I do like the optional 10in garmins and the wireless charging. Not a fan of the wrap around platform. And not a fan of the 2 tone seats.
