Hi Everyone! Really excited to have just taken delivery of my first boat and first Cobalt, a 2020 CS23. Ordered her in September 2019 and this has been such a long 8 months of waiting!
On the options, I was a bit price limited so I focused on the things I knew would be harder to change in the long run:
- Sport Package with white hull bottom, knockout red boot stripe/platform, navy hull side, arctic white/red interior, and white tower with navy bimini
- Volvo Penta V8 300 DP
- Fender clips
- Battery switch, dual with ACR
- Bow/cockpit tonneau cover
The photos I have so far aren't great, since the boat is dry stored at the marina and was in the water already when I went to pick it up. Instead of going with the Cobalt chart plotter, I've mounted an 8" tablet and am running Navionics. Really excited for Summer to ramp up and to be out on the water! Also looking forward to hearing from some fellow Lake Winnipesaukee folks.

I love it!!! Now to see if you can get used to that bright red. Let us know if that gets hot this summer. Call me old but I think I would get all white inside. It's just cooler. I did like the Dreamsicle inside though. I know I'm odd but that's ok!
Congrats on a great boat!!!

Hey TJ. Welcome to the CobaltChat forum. So glad you found us!
They say boat sales for March and April are at all time record highs. Who would have thought it with this virus. The new members are pouring into this forum like the exhaust pouring out of WOT Captain's call.

I guess folks really want to socially distance on the water

and connect via the forum.
Your boat is about as patriotic as it gets. I hope your rig is red white and blue as well. You could name her Thunderbird.

Keep those pics coming. We love them here.
....and again, welcome aboard mate!

Thanks so much! I've been lurking in the shadows on the thread for a little while now, and very appreciative of all of the great information I was able to find. Feels good to finally get my first post and pics in though

Hey if it stays nice and hot enough all Summer for the red to be too toasty, that's a problem I am more than happy to deal with! Plus, my rear end will always be on the fold up drivers bolster so I'm good either way

Ah to tempt me with Captain's Call. It's acceptable to start putting the wish list together for the next boat, right? I would have loved to have added to the red, white, blue with growling LOUD
It's great that the forum has such a strong community, really makes new folks like me feel welcome so thank you. The dealer also mentioned sales weren't impacted much at all, I would imagine people are exploring boating as it seems there may not be much else to do for the Summer with families at home and so much being cancelled. Perfect for social distancing as well as you said!

Thanks TJ. Yes it is a great community online here and with Cobalt owners in general. Maybe because we share such similar walks of life...or because we all just like the best runabouts on the planet.
You'll enjoy the forum. Feel free to explore. We have a lot of fun here especially when some of our threads go down rabbit holes and we forget what the original topic was.
Overall it is a family friendly site with a lot of boating wisdom, good natured ribbing, and of course....a LOT of pics...which we
loce.

I imagine you ordered from Eastcoast flightcraft. If you did, Dan Wettergeen is a great part of that team. He is the reason I found and own my boat. Great group of people.

I actually worked with Goodhue and Hawkins in Wolfeboro, really great people as well. I think Dan may be involved there too.

Yes. He is for sure. I almost went to that end of the lake to check out a R5 from theje rental fleet. Glad 8 didnt, as I heard they outfit the rentals with a 300 hp volvo, single aluminum prop in case of a ding. But then they found me my R3 with 30 hours on the meter. And I all of a sudden bought a smaller boat, convinced it was the best decision, as I will likely upgrade to am R6 anyway

A R5 with a 300 with a sx drive. Wow I didn't know you could get it that way. Now that's got to be a pig to get out of the hole. Why just why. Even a rental fleet. It doesn't help them sell a new boat. Ok im done.

I think its for their boat share club. Some decent rocks in Winni from what I hear, so I would hate putting a new boater out on the water with a stainless prop.
I didnt verify this tho, word was from another dealer, and possibly a reason they came up with to steer me away from buying a 1 year old boat for what seemed a smoking price. It definitely had the 300 hp engine tho. Which my only complaint with an R5 paired with the 300 is top end speed. And if you load her with 8 people. Best engine is a 380 for the R5 in my opinion

Well not sure back then but right now only a DP. Myself of course the 380 is great choice but if I had a choice and money wasn't a factor a 430 would be the way to go. Odd I know

Such a small world, I put a deposit on that R5 from the rental fleet today. We took it out for a spin on winnie after looking at it yesterday. It is DP, but only 300. Should have it next weekend, if deal goes through.
Going to be keeping it up at shep browns. Had our current boat there for past 5 years.
There were 2 from the rental fleet for sale, white went under contract recently so grabbed the blue hull one.
