Throttle lever upgrade

A month into my 273 acquisition, noting my throttle is a basic cable deal and fairly ordinary, some advise please?

I’ve a 8.2 seacore with Bravo 3, shifting from neutral to reverse is pretty aggressive and quite difficult to modulate, although I guess I’ll learn. I note there are retrofit throttle controls that convert the single shift to a a dual lever, I.e. throttle and shift F/R, I quite like this idea, I assume if at idle shifting just the gear will allow for more accurate speed control at least no throttle modulation? Of course digital would be better but in leu is this a reasonable alternative. Formula use them?
Am I right I’ve never used one.

Has anyone converted if so can anyone recommend a conversion kit, I’ve read up on Hardin marine who offer what looks like a simple conversion, any others?

Cheers

I wonder if adjustment would be enough to make you happy with what you've got? I was able to find some instructions:
bravo-shift-adjust.pdf
and what appears to be the correct tool for under $10:

For a single screw it probably isn't worth the cost or hassle. When you shift to rev it should still be at idle speed unless you move the throttle back farther than just engaging the gear. I'd give it a season and see what you think, my guess is you will get used to it and decide to spend that money on more fun things like SS cup holders. I had to get used to mine as well (same as yours) and I don't notice it anymore.

With this crazy guy.
The douprop is a rocket in reverse of you have never had one before. Changing shifters won't change that as you are not moving the throttle plate yet when it's in gear. Unless it's misadjusted. Which I doubt it is. Just go rev quick and back to neutral. And repeat as needed.

Yes I guess it’s one of those things I need to master, but your correct hit absolutely flies in reverse.
