Greetings all-
So fortunate to have found this group...grateful for the knowledge! I'm a long time fan of Cobalt. Lived down DD highway near Coney Island in high school(all of the Tablerockers will know that area). The family and I have rented a 220S from the Harbor in Branson this summer and a CS23 from Lake Norman Marina near Charlotte NC. (we currently live near Raleigh) Loved both boats but I really like the style of the 232 and 242. I have found a couple nice ones that I'm going to look at this weekend. I've seen several members here have a 242 but haven't seen any comments on the 232. Both have the 5.7 gxi. 232 is a 2013 w/ 122 hrs and the 242 is a 2010 w/ 62 hours. Any thoughts on these two models? Other than age, the only difference I can see is the 232 has a tower and the 242 has the standard bimini top. Both appear to be in great shape. I hope y'all have a great Labor Day weekend. This site stands as a wonderful ambassador for Cobalt and to boating in general (Pax owes you some free Cobalt swag!). Thanks again!

Hey jbf. Welcome to the Cobaltchat forum. So glad you found us!
Thanks for the introduction.
You really can’t go wrong with either. Personally I like the wakeboard tower boats but that’s just me. Plus, it will be easier to get parts on a 7 year old or younger boat. Anything older and Cobalt will not stock their in house parts anymore. Something to keep in mind.
Others will chime in with their thoughts.
Again, welcome aboard mate!
.

Jack, thanks for the kind words. For me, the decision on models came down to how the interior was laid out, and what would be most functional for us. Sounds like you've got a couple pretty good options to choose from, so if they're both in great shape I'd climb around in each and see if one feels more like "home" in its layout.
Don't forget to write back about what you decide!
John

I hope one or the other feels like home. I'm normally fairly decisive after I've researched enough. Trucks, shotguns, dogs...easy. Boat selection = hard!
Great point about the parts being available for only 7 years..And I do like the tower.
We'll see how it goes.
Now if only BBP will recommend that these models need twin 5.7's, I will have lived the full CC experience.
Thanks y'all and have a relaxing and safe Labor day

I'm more of a twin 240 guy now.
I feel like we already have met. I loce you already

I like the 232. I won't buy another boat without a tower even though I try to rip them off from time to time.both boats seem to have very low hours. I would get the ecu scanned to see if that is accurate. What colors are they. The 5.7 will do. If your not in a hurry. You are coming into prime buying time. I would hold out for a 6.2 or 8.1 or 8.2 just me. Loaf the boat up the way you think you will Normally be using it and treat drive it.
Other than that welcome. Where and how will you be using it.

Hey welcome aboard! As I’m a Table rocker I know exactly where you are talking about. I’m just a little farther east on Indian Point.
Good luck with your boat search and if you give us all the search criteria we love to spend other people’s money.

Welcome going forward!
You can go wrong with either and the Gxi version is a healthy combo.
You’ll know when you see it , and considering your in the Cobalt Mecca patience is gonna be tough but worth it.
We look forward to hearing how it goes and it’s ok to ask for what BB mentioned about scanned hours and date of Ecm.

Thought the same think about the low hours, especially 62 on a 10 yo boat. Use of the boat will be the standard occasional lunch cruises, coving out with lemonades, and wake boards with the bride and son. Lake Norman NC is really nice but about a 2.5 hr drive. Lake Jordan is 5 minutes away but it has no "lake life"...but very relaxing with just water and trees. Thanks for everyone's input. And if anyone hears about an available 22-24 footer w/ twin 240's, send it my way!

Wow you sure get it!
I remember selling my 2002 262 earlier this year with 350hrs on it and someone said it had high hours. I said um 20hrs a season is high hours? I put 60-70 a season on a boat.
I'd buy a properly maintained "high" hour boat over a boat that got used 5hrs a season.

Well, boat # 1 already sold before I got a chance to see it ( the red 242). Heading down tomorrow morning to see the white over black 232. Going to take cmatt's advice and be patient so that I can take BBP's advice and look for an 8.1

This guy gets it. And hes done his homework! Except there's no introductory photo. It doesn't matter if you don't have a boat yet, show us a pic of your dog and shotgun!
And Welcome from Oklahoma! Glad to have you onboard!
