Hello! I'm new to cobaltchat, but I've owned our 2006 Cobalt 220 since new - ordered in Feb 2006 and received in May 2006. Hull is maroon with a gray stripe. I'm sure I have better pictures at home, but here she is asleep in her slip in Tahoe City, CA, early this season.

Tahoe is truly one of the most beautiful places on the planet. It's amazing.

A gigantic pain in the ass to get to if you live in the SF Bay Area, but amazing.

Wow, that is really cool with the mountains and the snow, is that snow on the shore line and the boat is in the water? I guess the lake doesn't freeze at all? Are you able to use her year round? I just upgraded from a 220, what a great boat that is, it was hard to say good bye.

Thanks, everyone! Here are a couple slightly better picts...though I really need to find a couple current ones!

The first picture was taken in April...our boat is in the water from about mid-April until the end of September. The Lake does not freeze - it is too deep at 1,644 feet - but will get ice near shore, in marinas, small coves, etc. Some people do launch boats and fish during the winter, but very few.

It is gorgeous, but agreed that traffic can be terrible getting there from the Bay Area (though we tend to stay up there chunks of the summer, so not as big a deal as getting there in winter with the weekend ski warriors). There's still snow on the peaks even now (we had a huge winter of over 60' of snow at 8,000'. Unfortunately, it has been windy this summer, churning the cold water up from the deeps, so the surface lake temp is probably 62 degrees right now. Normally it would be in the high 60s. Still cold, but not as breathtakingly cold as 62. Near-shore on a hot day, the top layer of water will hit the low 70s. Just don't dive in past that first isocline - its gets down to 50 degrees pretty quickly.

I've thought about upgrading to an R3 or R5 (max that fits in my slip), but I'm not totally sure I want the higher hull and/or the forward drive. It would allow for wake surfing but limit how we can pull into beaches - most boat owners in Tahoe back in very close to shore, or beach the front of the boat. The forward drives seem like they'd make both harder - and the ones on the Lake are often anchored further offshore.

Gawd, I love Tahoe.

Welcome from Minnesota! Formerly from Los Gatos, El Dorado Hills, and Kings Beach. We spent about 50 days each year at our Kings Beach condo from 2007 until we sold it in April of 2018. I love Tahoe, one of the best and most beautiful places on the planet!!

We are a family of skiers as well so I’ll share a slight different view of the lake from the pier in front of our old condo. Some of our best friends own the condo closest to the water in the picture and we get out once or twice a year to visit.

@MnLakeBum - thanks for sharing! We spend about 60 days/year in Tahoe, split between Summer and Winter. With teenagers, we are weekend warriors in Winter and spend chunkier times in Summer. I love it there! And I have plenty of crazy pictures from the snow this year.

This is what 40' of snow looks like at Alpine Meadows. It was 60' by end of season! That's our yard, filled deep enough to hide our lower level - note the 2nd floor deck. And another angle. Big Winter!

Welcome from Chinquapin at Dollar point! Yes, Tahoe is awesome....... and sometimes challenging with a 22 footer in the waves and wind. Beautiful boat, those middle age 220s are well built.
