Well, it is time to upgrade!

Currently just have the stock setup with Rockford PMX-5CAN unit hidden behind the passenger side glovebox and the pmx1r remote on the helm. This system is running 6 rockford 6.5" coaxials in boat. I suspect that the 4 rear speakers are split off of the rear channel and the bow speakers are split off the front channel. I'll be splitting these into their own channels, adding a 6 channel amp, adding a mono sub amp, and installing a sub. My good friend (a wetsounds dealer at Tim's Ford Lake) and I will be doing the installation.

I'm not going with the top of the line on this. This will be really good stuff, but not the highest priced stuff. I'll provide a parts list after all is said and done to give an idea of what you might need with your own build. Check with your wetsounds dealer for pricing. We'll be replacing the rockford fosgate speakers with Wetsounds 6.5" coaxials (hopefully the ones with the LED lights - depends on pricing). We are installing a wetsounds HTX 6 channel amp to power each of the cabin speakers. A Wetsounds htx mono amp to power the sub (to be determined if we will drill a hole for a free air sub or use a box in driver side helm). We'll be running wetsounds wet wire to connect it all.

Finally, we'll be installing a second battery to keep it all powered up while floating. This also provides peace of mind for me...

Added a Rockford amp and remote at the swim platform. Please keep me updated on your progress as I’m nervous about cutting the subwoofer hole.

Yep, I'm nervous too. That's why we decided to get a ported sub box. Had to find one that matched the specs as close as as possible for the sub. Didn't really want to spend the time building a custom box when there are so many options.

I'm interested in adding a transom remote as well. Hows that location? Do you hit it at all?

Received my sub and my sub box. The box is made by Skar Audio. It’s a great looking box and seems very well built. It was close the the tuning specs and internal volume recommended by Rockford for the p3 sub. The box is 3/4” mdf covered in nice felt. It also comes with stuffing in it, as well as nice push connectors. I’d highly recommend it.

Only bad part is that the trim ring around the sub wouldn’t quit fit on the front of the box. No problem... trim the felt back and trim it. Break my favorite tool, the dremel, and go to town. Made quick work of that. Reglued the felt down with some 3m 77 spray adhesive.

Is the P3 a 12in Sub? Will the box dimensions fit in the CS22 helm storage?
Looking good!

P3 is available in 10, 12, and 15(?). The p3 12” sub wanted a larger box. I searched all over for a pre fab box that would fit both a 12” sub and still fit in the opening. The compartment is big enough, but the shape of the opening is challenging. It’s only 15 inches tall and the left side is angled. It’s like 23 inches wide at the top, but only 16 inches at the bottom. A custom enclosure that is taller could be made. You could then shoe horn it in there, but I could not find any that shape and size.

I went with the dual voice coil 10” 4 ohm model so I could run it at 2 ohms off the wetsounds mono amp. I’ve done similar setup in my previous Mastercraft (10” sub in a porter box in helm) and it was plenty loud. Just need to match up box specs and sub specs as close as you can.

Tracking says it’s all delivered tomorrow. We’ll start on Tuesday. Hoping yo get it done in two days for the forth.

Side note.... wetsounds pricing is increasing dramatically. They say it related to tariffs. Maybe a good thing that JL is American made....

Correction: it’s not solely based on tariffs...
