What’s up with my dash - cs22

The metal parts on my dash (both sides and glovebox) have this weird staining. I’ve tried everything to get it off, but nothing works. I’m seriously thinking about just painting it. No idea what color though....

Chemical staining? Is it out of warranty?

Nope, it’s in warranty. I’m going to push to get it replaced. It really is the only cheap looking thing about the cs22. I wish they would have just wrapped it in vinyl. Maybe I could find some and do that!!

Wrap it in carbon fiber?

Same thing happened on my 220. The dealer said they'd never seen anything like it and sent the pictures to Cobalt and they said they'd replace the panels. Just waiting on parts. Not sure how it happened, thought it may have been moisture but I take really good care of my boat and use moisture buckets.

Interesting, I have something similar on the glovebox door of our cs22. I am meticulous with the boat and haven’t been able to get it to clean up either. Looks like I’ll be pushing the dealer for replacement..

My dealer sent pictures to cobalt on thursday. no word back yet...

I'm the same way with cleaning. no spray screen and no bronzers allowed. This is something like an oxidation on the rough metal.

Hey thanks for coming out of the woodwork PCS23.

Any pics of your boat? How about the dash issue.

...and officially welcome aboard mate!

UPDATE: just got word back from my dealer that cobalt is going to replace the dash pieces. Just need to make sure it’s both pieces and the glovebox door. Then, schedule with the dealer. Of course, it’ll be after the stereo upgrades....

That’s great. Just wonder if it’s something that will happen again or just a bad batch?

This site is going to get me in trouble with new rules for the boat. My wife is already getting tired of them, like no new towels that have color on them. So why not add another one (no spray on sunscreen). lol.

We don’t use spray on sunscreen. I only clean with mild soap and water. These spots look like the rough finish on the metal panel has oxidized.

Honestly, it’s the only area of the boat that feels like corners were cut. I’m nervous to see if it will do it again with the new pieces. They should just do a vinyl wrap and call it good. I’ll be super disappointed if the new pieces do the same.

Always prewashed my colored towels, never had a problem.
