Guys and Gals,

I recently swapped out my SIMRAD GO5 chart plotter. I believe it is the model listed in the link.

I had it installed February last year and used it one season. It is in full working order.

I don't have a base mount for it because it the shop flush mounted it. No transducer, I only used it as a Chartplotter.

I'm asking $200 for the uni, but will consider any reasonable offer.

Please forgive my ignorance. What does the transducer do? Can the Simrad read depths without it?

To read actual water depth you need to attach a transducer. However, the chartplotter has maps of all the lakes built-in and has the water depth, navigation aids, fuel location, etc. I used the chartplotter to navigate and avoid shallow areas and the the water depth finder which was stock on my boat to confirm.

Thanks Driller, I live on Lake LBJ and the lake has changed a lot due to the floods last October. Just trying to find the best solution here

I used it on Travis last year. You can buy a card and update the charts, but I don't know if the update will immediately have the changes. It will show you the lake contour. You can also buy a transducer for the unit that would give you the water depth and temp. I just didn't need it.

Might not be the best solution for what you are trying to accomplish. With the transducer it shows water depth real time and will update the map / chart with the information which the transducer sees is the chart is not correct.

Hmmmm........Lake Powell??? Something to think about. Does it need a antenna??

A 40ft whip antenna. It's GPS.

40ft...you could put your eye out with one of those things. Just wondered if it needed one of the upside down bowl looking antenna things like you see on the big rigs and some boats.

No it's like a xm antenna size. Driller I'm sure has a picture of it.

Nope, the GPS is built in.

Heres a photo of it installed with and without the sun cover.

The screen shot of the chart is in fathoms before I changed it over to feet.
