Swim platform mat and leg question

Two quick questions.

1) The swim platform mat edges are lifting, what would be the best to glue the mat back down? Online searches point to contact cement or a 3m adhesive spray. Am I going in the right direction?

2) In this pic, what are these things I've circled at the trim, and how do I make them black again? Any tips would be great!

I know the PWC folks use contact cement, not sure how easy that is to get off when it’s time to replace. I’m sure MnLakebum will chime in as the resident 3m guru.

You circled the sacrificial anodes. They corrode so the drive doesn’t. When they get worn down you replace them. Depending on fresh or salt water there are different types.

I thought they were just guides, not actual anodes. The boat has always / will always be freshwater...

Yes. Anodes sacrifice themselves so the rest of your outdrive does not corrode....mainly from electrolysis from other boats conducted in either salt or freshwater.

There are normally six of them to replace on an outdrive.

Wow thanks, this is some great learning for me. It looks like there is also one in the centre of the props.
I checked out a couple videos online, looks pretty straightforward to do these myself. I assume the one you circled behind the props will require prop removal, so I will save that one for last as I have never removed props before.

You’ll need to order the special Bravo 3 prop removal tool to get the forward prop nut on and torqued to spec.

Doesn't look like the kits include the one for behind the props, is it less common to replace?
This is a magnesium kit for freshwater, looks like it will work.

Mine doesn’t have the one behind the props, or the nose cone. In fresh water they don’t do a whole lot unless you’re slipped somewhere there is bad shore power ground or another boat putting voltage into the water.
