First day on the lake and the R5 did not disappoint. The NextGen motors are are quick and have plenty of torque. I bought this boat off of reviews and reputation, I must say the ride is incredible and is everything a Cobalt is supposed to be.

Wow beautiful R5! I’ve got your bigger brother the R7 in the same color scheme. Just with a black tower. Love the classic scheme. What motor is powering your R5?

Powered with 350 Volvo, comes out of the hole quickly and hits 52 instantly on plane. I was surprised on performance after reading some of the thoughts on power options and must admit I’m completely satisfied with the 350. This set up works very nice on a R5, if I were to purchase an R7 I would go higher on horsepower just because....
I’ve owned many boats and know the frustration of lack of horsepower, but this is not the case on this setup. If I were going the Surf model route then I would go bigger but for a pure pleasure boat all is good.

Welcome from Columbus Ohio. I love Norris Lake. Have trailered down 5 times. Stayed near the bridge, spring dock, and Marker 6 on big creek.

Where do you stay down there? What is your favorite marina to visit?

Nice R5!

We love Norris and trailer down there once a year from SE Michigan. We stay around marker 7 (or maybe 6?) as well. We hit Sequoyah and Whitman Hollow quite a bit.

I live at Waterside around point 19 , but frequent Springs Dock, Twin Cove, Bubba Brews, Stardust, Sequoya .. Basically the entire lake. I've had a boat on Norris since 2000. Crystal clear water and long season makes it hard to beat.

Beautiful boat! Did you post in the white boat thread as well? 52 mph is IMPRESSIVE for a boat that size! Congrats!
