Tonight we have some friends and family coming over. I have a big pot of Carne Guisada on the stove, and after we all stuff ourselves on street tacos I'm gonna light this sucker on fire.

I always snicker when someone shows a picture of a "bon fire" and it's what I would build in camp! We do this at least once a year and it's a blast. We'll eat, the sit around the fire with temps in the high 20s in this valley, play music, tell stories, laugh, live, make memories...and turn. You have to keep turning to keep both sides wArm.

Oh my. Last night the fire was HUge. I added to the pile by clearing a couple of downed trees that needed to go away. We enjoyed lemonade until 1 or so and had a blast! Then I covered up what was left to smother out any remaining embers and did a lip skid into bed about 2. And it was perfect timing too. I woke up to snow and ice this morning.

Btw, we have one pile brewing as well. Almost as big as yours....although we are still adding to it. Looking forward to the light off in the spring. We can send smoke signals to each other.

Thanks guys, it was fun! It was mostly brush and limbs with a few logs thrown in. I knew it would be big and hot for a short while then settle in with some good coals to sit by while the logs burned down. When I lit it you couldn't get close!
