A28 Anchor lift windless issues

Hello, I just recently bought a used 2014 a28 and tried using the windless anchor for the first time. The windless anchor did not work so I called the manufacture "Anchor Lift". They had me check several things including the 80 amp breaker which was good, jump the motor directly with 12 volts and the motor spun correctly. Then they said it is probably the solenoid. This is where I need help . I cannot find the location of the solenoid. Does anyone know where it might be? Thank you in advance for any help you could give on this subject.

Cmattj is our windlass expert although he may not know the A28 solenoid location. Hopefully it’s in a similar location as his 280 model.
He will chime in shortly.
You and bwoz are A28 soul mates here.
And welcome aboar mate...

You may be looking for a remote 3 wire solenoid box.
It won't look like a starter type unit. It will be a control box with 2 wires from battery in and 3 wires to windlass motor. My wires go to the dark abyss behind the head unit. But I haven't needed to dig it out.( knock wood). So possibly you can see witch direction yours exit the bow.
Give Cobalt a call with your Hin number and they will know where they hid it in the A series. Every builder picks a spot easy for assembly .. never for disassemble!
Oh and welcome.. go to the new member section and let's get you introduced with pics of that A28!!!

Update on the location of the windless anchor solenoid on an 2014 A28. After chatting with a Cobalt tech person the solenoid is located up in the front in the ski locker on a bulkhead facing aft. No much room to maneuver to remove it but doable for a smaller person. Thanks again for the support !!

On my 240 my compass quit working. Then I discovered the unit was bolted to the side of the bulkhead in the ski locker just forward of the helm. A ski or board must've knocked it loose and broke it. And no guard whatsoever.
So Cobalt mounts your solenoid on the bulkhead in the front? I'm betting with no guard either. I'm mean it's highly likely you wouldnt jab it with a ski or something.
Jeesh..

You are absolutely correct, no guard whatsoever to cover the electrics. Hope you were able to get your compass fixed.
