Finally a Cobalt forum....

Hey Everyone....glad to see that there is a start of a new Cobalt forum.
I was getting tired of lurking in the Crownie and Chapparal, even the Mariah forums for info about our Cobalt.

After almost joining the Cobalt family years ago with a 1996 253, this past fall the wife and I were able to pickup a new to us 2001 263 as our first boat. We got a lot to learn, so any help from experienced Cobalt owners is always appreciated.

Looking forward to dropping 'er in the water this weekend in Lake Cumberland here in Kentucky.

No problem liquid....as requested.

We ended up getting it out of Lake of the Ozarks.
Its now a 3 owner boat, with 260 'ish hours on it now.
She was one of the first I had seen with the bimini arch that they did for a couple years in the early 2000's.
Fully expected it to be fiberglass (like a Sundancer), but its powder coated aluminum.

She was pretty clean to start with, but never exactly the way you would want it done.
Hopefully, the black hull does not drive me crazy this year.

That looks really sharp. I think the little bit of cleaning you might have to do with a darker hull will be worth it!

Love it. Low hours too. Congratulations.

We've discussed black Hulls on here a bit. Don't know how hard the water is where you are but if you wipe down after a day on the water it shouldn't be too bad. It's when you let it go for a while the work gets annoying.

Looks sharp.

I agree. Not sure why Cobalt owners are not very active in forums?
I am also very active on the crownie forum. Great guys and gals on there and hopefully we can get this one going as well.
I have a buddy with a 2014 r5 and wants to put tabs on it.do any of you guys have tabs?

Sorry guys for the delay, yes I still have the 263 on Lake Cumberland. Still surprising people when I tell them its now 17 years old.

Its been a busy offseason with some significant upgrades made.
Finally got sound up in the arch with adding some tower speakers and adding more in the sides of the arch.
Adding a 10" subwoofer and amp are nice, but a transom remote has significantly increased our enjoyment when we are floating out in the coves.

The other big thing we did was adding a Simrad GO7XSE to the helm.
We are controlling the Fusion black box stereo head unit through the Simrad.
Since the Simrad can do so much because of the NEMA2K info exchange, we've updated a new temp/transducer (our old hummingbird one never worked), fuel flow meter, & GPS speedo. The crazy thing is that the stock speedo is very close to GPS read out.

I thought I had some better pictures of the finished product, but I only have the working ones.
When I'm down there I will be sure to take some and share with the group

I get that with my 262 as well. I had a guy come up to me at a gas station this morning and said his dream is to have a new Cobalt like mine. I told him it was 17 years old and he was pretty suprised!

I'd love to see how you mounted your Simrad and arch speakers. Tgrace and I both have the same arch so seeing how you mounted your speakers would be great.

Welcome! Great looking Cobalt! I know my 273 spent some time on the Lake of the Ozarks, as well, and I am also the third owner. Had her for a little over a week now and am still learning, of course. Agree, we need to get more active owners on here.

So the NEMA2k info exchange works on your Volvo Motor?? I thought that was only a Mercury thing. If so I need to look into that. I already have the total scan transducer which is really nice. Adding that would be awesome so I can get real time data off the simrad while driving.
