Wanted to share the repair I did on my 272 seats. The seat base was broken where the bolster mounts so I made an Aluminum plate and mounted it through the holes in the molded plastic base.

Fantastic repair boatrover!

Love the pic documentation. Thank you.

Any idea how it originally broke?

Larger people. That plastic is so thin. Pretty common issue unfortunately.
How did you make those plugs to fit in those holes. How many more can you make? Your on to something.

I sketched out the design and a friend made it, he has access to a metal lathe. I had 2 made just in case I have to fix the captains seat. Previous owner owned a fast food restaurant may explain what happened to the seat.

Exactly. It looks really nice. Did he tap the holes for the hinges?

Yes we tapped the hinge holes and I used the existing screws. I had to line up and transfer clearance holes to attach the seat cushion. (Not pictured)

Exactly. They looked tapped but I couldn't tell. Nice job. Get him building more. There's a bunch out there like yours were.

Well the good news is I found this thread for it answers the exact problem I discovered this past weekend. The bad news looks like it was a custom fit.😪 the plastic sure does explain why they break. A bit surprising Cobalt would go cheap. Oh well. So the question is for those who need a solution how do we go about getting a replacement part? Did you take the plastic piece and use it as a template? I would be willing to buy one or two if your friend would make them. :😬

I would be happy to make a print of what I made but not interested in making or having more parts made. I do not want to wear out my welcome in the machine shop, in case I have another project. Sorry

Unfortunately pretty common issue. This is a very nice repair though. Slideracer maybe another part time job lol.

Boatrover I understand not wanting to wear out a welcome. I will take you up on the offer though for the template, if you don’t mind please.

Hey folks, not trying to steal thunder or fame from Boatrover, but I could make these repair kits. Does anybody know how standard the seatpan is across the years? If there's interest, let me know and I'll try to price it out for you.
