Engine Compartment Cleaning

I bought my 212 in January and it's been put up until now. It has 350hrs on it and is a nice clean boat except inside all the compartments, especially the engine compartment. It is filthy, got a greasy dirty film or worse everywhere in there. I am starting to clean it using simple green and a soft brush with a water rinse. This works well and it comes clean easily. My problem is I can't get in there and I cant reach everywhere with the brush. And believe me I need to reach EVERYWHERE.

I'm thinking about using a pressure washer with the simple green but am kind of concerned about the spray getting the engine all wet and wondering about doing harm to the electrical components on the engine. I am considering covering the engine with a plastic tarp and blasting away at the filth. Has anybody had any bad experience using a pressure washer in that area?

Thanks
Mark Potter

Mark I use this and a hose. Works great. I hate spraying wires and connectors. You can always spray wd40 on them first. I just don't do it much. I've seen so many car engines come from detail not running right I just leave it alone. I get in there with brushes.
