Ever wonder what happens when you hit a large goose in a BMW while doing 80mph on the interstate? Of course not, me either, but I found out today.

An F350 in front of me grazed the bird, didn't kill it though, but did disorient it enough that I really think it lost track of up and down for a second. Flew right into the window of my car.

I saw the goose bounce off the F350 had enough time to say "shit" and next thing you know it was hitting my window. Thank God Katie wasn't in the passenger seat at the time. I have hit deer before, but a direct bird strike on the window was way scarier.

Holy crap ! That would have been scary. Good to hear no one got hurt.

So sorry to hear that Jeff...and I am glad to hear you are both ok. WOW.
At least that will be covered under your comprehensive deductible. I would think yours is low since it's so cheap to keep a low deductible-- yet such a high probability of hitting birds, deer, and geese! Yikes.

There was surprisingly little blood on the car, but yeah the blunt force most likely was the end of it for the goose. I joked I should go back this AM find it and mount it in my garage.

I was surprised it held up that well also. There was a time I could do the math, but the force of a 10 - 15lb bird hitting a window at 80mph had to be pretty great. The window is punched in a good 5in in the center of the impact but the glass held together pretty well. Glad it was on the passenger side, I have a feeling I would be a lot more freaked out if it was on the drivers side.

OuyVeaahhh!!.. considering the rash of fatal rock through windshield this year.. very lucky the size of a goose kept it from breaking through the lamination. Go get a lottery ticket!
