Yikes, is that for twins?
I usually change the oil myself using 8 qts of Mobil 1 full synthetic and a Mercury Marine OEM filter. Less than $100 to do yourself.
If I had to pay someone for this service, I wouldn’t pay over $ 200. Marine techs receive about 100 bucks an hour on average for labor.
Many times you can buy the oil yourself as well as the filter ....hand it to the marine tech, and just pay for the labor. I’ve done this before at our marina.

Before I judge that price I guess I would want to know what all is included in that price.

Good grief... I don't pay that for an oil and fluids when we winterize... Heck even the years I have the drive pulled doesn't come close to that price.

Your 262 does not need a “summerization”. Hook up a hose to the outdrive and start her up to purge the antifreeze out of her. Run it for 5 minutes to bring her up to operating temperature. That’s it.
If the oil was changed before winter storage (what I recommend), then you’re good to go.
$500 is someone taking advantage of you.
Btw, I always take our boat out with my wife or alone the first outing of the season to make sure everything is operating correctly. You don’t want issues to happen with folks on board. (Maybe they want to do this for you ...for $500!)

Maybe they include in impeller, align the drive, drive lube, fuel filter, oil change, I'm not saying it's expensive but I hate to say that without knowing what they include.

Now you are making that sound reasonable!

It could.
You could certainly check this JM.
I’ll tell ya, that’s not standard operating practice where we live. It’s definitely a service though.
It’s not the standard “summerization” practice.
These all happen in the fall.
Just proceed with caution.

Ok thanks. So much for a impeller being hard to replace.

Haaha! B that's funny! Yeah, me too. If all they're doing is changing the oil then yeah...they are bending you over.
Our local dealer that I have never used quoted close to $600 for winterizing, which is way too high for what they do. I've never heard of a "summerization". I think I'll call them tomorrow and see what they say. I'm betting it'll be close though!

Judd also what are you looking to get done. What maint has been done to your boat. Really why don't you just change the oil yourself. It's good to get that bonding with your engine. If you don't have prop wrenches I would suggest getting them anyways for the just in case. Drive oil is easy to do but you need tools for that. And the Volvo drain plug on the drive needs to have the oring changed everytime you remove it. We can walk you through it. None of it is very hard to do.

Thanks for all the info. I am going to call tomorrow and ask more questions.
I was wanting to pay this time because its the first for this boat while in my possession. Thought they could just look over it and make sure all appears ok. I have no clue if it was done before being winterized and no way of knowing.
